Spinifex Rose

Spinifex Rose is a country/pop 6 piece, including 2 guitars, bass, harmonica, drums and cello. Great to listen to at festivals, lazy afternoons at the pub or for those nights when you feel like a dance and good time with friends.

Spinifex Rose was formed over the kitchen table (as all the best bands are) in summer 2008 as a duo and since then they have collected extra band members along the way and have written an album's worth of songs ( or two!) as well as being finalists in the Darebin Songwriters Competition.

Singer/songwriters Luella Paine and Alex Hughes collaborate to create the Spinifex Rose sound, both being influenced by the tried and true songs and stories of Aussie pop/rock icons such as Paul Kelly, Crowded House and The Waifs. Their two part harmonies (and sometimes three if they can rope other members of the band into singing) add a unique element to their sound as they sing of domestic bliss, love gone wrong, love gone right, family, friendship and all things universal.
