Bio
The story of Spit Club begins, as so many successful collaborations do, with a chance encounter between kindred spirits. After meeting in Manchester in 2013, band members Barry Maliceson (also of Black Diamond Lake) and Tristan Wild spent the next few years living and playing music together in Jamaica, Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia, before being sundered by circumstance to their current homes: Perth, Australia and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, respectively.
Far from hampering the Spit Club project, this geographical gulf has only spurred on and invigorated the band's creative process. Recording, mixing and producing all the tracks themselves at home and often featuring lyric contributions from the poet plus long-time friend and collaborator Samuel James O'Brien, Spit Club make lo-fi, blues-driven, DIY rock music and cite influences such as Roland S. Howard, Leonard Cohen, Car Seat Headrest and Arctic Monkeys.
