Bio

It is said that there are two ways to make it in the music industry, either you’ve got a lot of money or you have talent and connections. So in a time where most record stores are shutting down and labels are reluctant to signing new artists, the only options left are internet and live shows… As well as the classic street corner hustle which is mostly specific to Hip Hop. And this is the path SPLEEN chose…

Starting with 100 home- made copies of his first mixtape in 2008, he is now on his third solo release combining a total of over 25 000 units sold hand to hand in 10 different countriesand still counting...
Now, hard work and dedication is one thing, but you don’t go very far without talent. In SPLEEN’s case, features with legends in the game like REDMAN, BIG NOYD or INSPECTAH DECK speak for themselves…

Ever since « Black Market Best Sella » he started working with French producer NAB (H24 productions) and teamed up with DJ MAD HABITS for live shows.

Both of them travelled all over Europe and in the States promoting their music directly to the people, doing shows from open mic’s in small bars to opening for major artists such as METHODMAN & REDMAN on 2009’s « BLACKOUT 2 » Europe tour, or INSPECTAH DECK’s « MANIFESTO » 2010 Europe tour, as well as festivals such as 2010’s edition of HIP HOP KEMP in Czek Rep just to name a few…

This year, maintaining his DIY focus, SPLEEN put together a project with french rapper NILL NESS, revisiting classic's from the 90's called CLASSIC 2.0., in a limited edition which was sold exclusively in the streets.
The project was backed up by a 2 month tour totaly self booked and promoted, all over France, 1 D TOUR dans TA VILLE.

Support and recognition from the public, the artists who inspired him to rap, and underground media is what gave SPLEEN the drive to keep on perfecting his beats and rhymes and selling his CD’s on street corners and festivals.
Working hard to not go back to a 9 to 5 and get the exposure he deserves is the story of his latest solo studio album « Working Class ».
Creating a buzz in the streets of Europe already, but also on the web and underground radio, the album was released under the radar in 2010, and has been receiving good feedback since but not the exposure it deserves.

Determined to stay on his grind, SPLEEN already has his next projects in mind… First objective being the invasion of the web, which has been a little underdevelopped compared to his street buzz; with over 5 brand new music videos set to drop by the end of the year, some shot in France and others in N.Y., and a lot of new music for 2012.
The idea is also to create a bigger following in the U.S.A. to help create more momemtum in Europe.

So don’t sleep keep your ears to the streets, soon in a city near you !
