Bio
Splinter Belly's curious brand of Americana began in the Fall of 2007 at the Melting Point in Athens, GA. It was an apt venue name. Songwriter Don Auber had enlisted the help of slide guitarist Greg Kearney and upright bassist Mike Gavrielides for a one-time gig, but their collaboration molding blues, bluegrass, jazz, folk and rock proved something so unique they never looked back. Now a year after playing across the southeast and composing new songs for their upcoming album, the trio has evolved to a thundering five piece, welcoming musicians Louis Pelot (drums) and Adam Poulin (violin) of Leaving Countries fame. From performing on stages such as The Celebration of the South Music Festival and the North Georgia Folk Festival, the band has quickly earned fans with their high energy, improvisational spirit and compelling lyrical songcraft.
The band is currently working at DreamLab studios in Winterville, GA. They plan to release their debut album in early 2009.
