Spontaneo

BandRockPop

We're Rock/Pop group from Pittsburgh, Pa. Our songs have heart felt lyrics about life, and their catchy as all hell.

Biography

Here's what Alternative Press Magazine had to say about us in their issue #257

Coming together during the fall of 2007, pop-punk unit Spontaneo looked to the past for inspiration-and we mean further into the past than Blink-182. “Every one of our songs is about something deep disguised as pop,” says frontman Diego Byrnes. “It comes a lot from ‘50’s songs like ‘Leader of the Pack’, which is a sad song in a bubble gum Package.”

The band recently completed their debut full-length with Punchline’s Steve Soboslai, and they’ve just started gigging alongside Holiday Parade and The Morning Of. If you catch Spontaneo live, however, Byrnes says to be prepared. “If you hear any of our songs twice in a row, you’ll catch yourself humming the melody for at least a couple of days.”

A Map And A Car

Written By: Spontaneo

It’s the time of year
Where people start to leave and I’m stuck with another flooding basement,
And a fridge nowhere close to half full
So what am I supposed to do? My hands are tied and my feet are glued,
To this high-pressure altitude.

You offered me a deal, that just seemed too good to be real.
And I don’t know how to say no.
So I packed up and got ready to go,

Somewhere far away from home.
I can’t wait to get there.
I can’t wait to get there.

So let’s land this plane,
So I can see you face to face.
I still don’t know what I’m gonna say.

Oh god, what have we done?!
We busted up the levy now, it’s gonna start to…

Flood, somewhere in between,
The present and past miseries,
And tomorrow’s not very far.
So I’ll get the map if you drive the car.

Last night I saw you in a dream, and I just wanna know exactly what that means,
Was I even asleep?
And I wouldn’t go so far to say, that I never cared about the way you feel,
Was it even that real?

Years worth of hate,
Got flooded away when the rains came.
They were gone by the first wave.
But I just wanna know,
What happens after I go home.
Will you still be the kind of man I could never call dad?
But you wanna know the truth?!
I see myself in you!

Last night I saw you in a dream, and I just wanna know exactly what that means,
Was I even asleep?
And I wouldn’t go so far to say, that I never cared about the way you feel,
Yeah you really sealed the deal.
It’s in the mail, yeah!

Last night I saw you in a dream, and I just wanna know exactly what that means.

Bad Weather

Written By: Spontaneo

There’s something, something so cold, about the way the wind blows.
And maybe, if it starts to snow, we might just have to go inside.

I know better than, to trust the weatherman.

There’s something, something left untold about the way the story goes.
And maybe, if we start to show off our true colors we’ll explode.

I know better than, to trust the weatherman.

And I just wanna know, where the flowers go before the spring, and if there’s anything they do to keep from shivering.
Maybe in time, I’ll learn to hide.
Just like those roses under snow,
Or maybe I’ll just never know.

I know better than, to trust the weatherman.
I know better than, to trust the weatherman.

New Tears

Written By: Spontaneo

I’ve got so many new tears,
That I’m drowning in a sea made of sorrows.
Oh and one more tomorrow is all that I could ask from God.
Problem is,
That I just never could believe in angels.
But now I wish I did, so you could hear what I have to say.
That in the back of my mind,
I just thought that I had more time.

To say wait…
Before you leave the state there’s something I need to say.
I’m sorry I chose to run away.
I was scared you were leaving town.
Now I’m losing sleep.
When I think of all the things that city stole from me.
But it can never take my memories,
Oh and that’s why I miss you more than words can say,
And I’m sorry I’m too late,
I thought I had more time.

New tears,
That were left along with flowers at your gravestone.
Oh and no one’s alone with the pain that we share in our hearts.
You’ll live on, forever in this song and our memories.
So just sleep now and dream, and I’ll keep you close to me.
But in the back of my mind,
I just thought that I had more time…

Before you leave the state there’s something I need to say.
I’m sorry I chose to run away.
I was scared you were leaving town.
What I wouldn’t give, I’d give anything,
Just to hold your hand again my sweet Kristen.
And take you in my arms,
For one final kiss goodnight.
But it’s useless to even try,
Because death is just another part of being alive!

I met the girl who called you here sister.
I can’t imagine the pain she carries with her.
But I know that I’m not alone, when I say what I’ll miss most,
Is how your smile lit up the world.

What A Waste Of Time

Written By: Spontaneo

I know there’s something wrong,
With the way your heart’s sewn on,
Your collar, that’s not where it goes,
Cause lately you’ve been out of control.

With the way you’re running,
All across town.
Your face gives away the way,
That someone must’ve let you down.

And we both said, “oh what a waste of our time”.

So we’re calling in mission control,
Cause we’ve got some problems,
In the shape of some misplaced words that you took verbatim.

So you went and made a big scene,
And I threw away my dignity,
Just like a Christmas tree,
A week after New Years.

And we both said, “oh what a waste of our time”.

So we wait, oh and we see,
Exactly what needs to be,
Done to make sure we don’t stay enemies.

I was there but I was out of mind.
Yeah walked out the back door and around to the side.
I was watching me pushing you, out into the street,
And I said to myself that you’ve never done anything to me.

And we both said, “oh what a waste of our time”.
