hi, we are karl and sherrie and we write songs together.
spyplane first came into being one sunny afternoon two years ago as a meeting of minds in a pub garden...always a good start!
we knew that we wanted to make manifest the idea of music as communication and beauty and not just as a vehicle for own performances. to this end, we do not have myspace or twitter or business cards etc but rely on our live performances and word of mouth to bring us the opportunities to play.
we have been very fortunate and now play at venues all over kent and the south of england.
our style is low tech and gizmo free with the emphasis on content over glamour.
our influences come from our passion for this planet, the wonder of our language and the beauty of melody. if that is a little pretentious...yes we know it is!...then we are also influenced musically and lyrically by fairport convention, pearl jam, buffy st. marie, the be good tanyas, the low anthem, ted hughes and philip larkin.
we travel light, are fuss free and being a duo fit into the smallest of spaces. we love what we do and take our pleasure when others do too x
