Saturday’s festivities will start with the Norman North High School jazz choir, which has been a Jazz in June tradition for 10 years.
Guitar prodigy Aaron Squirrel, 20, is returning for his second Jazz in June, but it will be his first as a performer.
Last year, this guitarist, who was born and raised in Norman, taught a guitar clinic. This year, he will be taking the stage with his quartet and two featured vocalists.
“Our music’s pretty eclectic and diverse,” Squirrel said. “We have jazz elements, some funk and even bluegrass.”
Squirrel said the performance will be high-energy, and he hopes to “rock it out” and gain some new fans.
“It’s really fun getting out and getting to show your talent,” Squirrel said. - the Oklahoma Daily

The evening’s performances continue with another Jazz in June veteran, Aaron
Squirrel and his band. Described as a guitar prodigy, Squirrel blends his vast
array of blues, jazz, fusion and rock influences to create his own unique sound
and technique. An opener for many of today's best-known guitarists (most
recently) including Grammy nominated Derek Trucks, Squirrel coined the term
Bluesion to describe his style of guitar-driven music.

"At seven, Aaron Squirrel, guitar prodigy, will be offering up his striking musical ability. Though new to the jazz world, Aaron’s music is spectacular, and he will soon be well known in the music world. Come and witness this up-and-coming young man early in his career." - Cuturewest writer Callie Yeager
