S-ROC

S-ROC (a.k.a. Smitty Right On Cue), started rapping back in 1997 when he met Rahsaun Ortiz aka RAH-O while in the U.S. Army. His passion is music – hip-hop, rap, soul, R & B. The story lines of his music revolve around life experiences – from work struggles, to hard times to more light hearted topics. Music became a release for S-ROC who needed an outlet away from working a 9-5 job and just living to pay bills.

Listening to his newest release, “Da Take Ova”, which is off of his newest CD, “ROC SOLID”, you can hear the frustration about being tired of being tired and of waiting for his turn in life. It was time he began to take control of his life. The vocals on this particular song are strong and raw. You can almost visualize the intensity of his lyrics. The balance that I heard came from the beat, the rhythm and the looping of a segment which was almost animated in my interpretation. It was different….it was cool……it made me listen….and I enjoyed it completely. It is hard to be unique in the world of rap. S-ROC found that niche and has successfully taken rap to its next level.

The new CD “ROC SOLID” is extremely versatile in its music, yet these songs have a common thread throughout – every song has great rhythm, strong beats, crazy vocals and there’s something for everyone . He writes and produces songs that fans want to hear. Whether it is hard core rap, a smooth easy going story line or a cool R & B tune for lovers, S-ROC brings it to life through his music. This CD is definitely a must buy in my book.

“ROC SOLID” is scheduled to be released sometime in April, 2010 and will be available at most i-stores. However, you can hear and/or purchase prior CD’s such as ROC & A Hard Place or ROC Bottom.

S-ROC is a proud owner of his own studio, ‘Rocland Studios’. However, his priorities are extremely clear - he supports his wife and 4 children along with working 12 hour rotating shifts at a Project System Engineer for the Department of Defense. Yes he is a proud man all around, protecting his wife and children and protecting his country.

But that passion is something you just can’t deny……………his music.
