"Singles"

I’m particularly fond of music that sounds like it ended up on the cutting room floor in the John Hughes soundtrack editing suite and local lass Zadia Lenders is particularly good at it. Sounding a bit like a girlish Morrissey, ‘Maybe’ is the sort of ethereal echoing pop that would’ve suited soundtracking Ally Sheedy walking around a windswept campus - Inpress

"Single of the week"

At times her songs recall the Cocteau Twins and The Sundays - The Big Issue

"Futures"

.. expert at blending unusual time signatures and multiple harmonies with textures culled from a thick inventory of influences. - CMJ

"Reviews"

Giving heavy nods to the distinctive musings of (vintage) Lush, the Pixies and Drugstore, she explores even more extreme contrasts. - Exclaim

"Eye Reviews"

Sparkly, spooky and melodic. Catchy hooks and sweet dreamy vocals mesh perfectly with grindy and dissonant bits - Eye Magazine

"Unearthed"

Great song, haunting vocals. a bit Cranberryish. nicely arranged - Triple J

"Chart review"

Dirty mysterious guitars crash down around the sweet mega-melodic vocals - Chart

Bio

Spearmint Fur's music features sweet smooth vocals over sometimes melancholy, spacey and sometimes raunchy guitars. The good ship Spearmint Fur is captained by singer songwriter Zadia Lenders. who fronted Canadian indie band Clove and has had songs featured in the TV series Nikita, the Lionsgate film Xchange and others. Debut album Immune will be released shortly so stay tuned ! Zadia played in several bands in Canada including Maidenstone a five piece all girl thrash/metal band and Clove a dreamy pop band where she was the main songwriter, and has had the good fortune to share the stage with the likes of Throwing Muses, Swervedriver, Juliana Hatfield , Heather Nova, Jars of Clay and various other artists.

With music described as 'lullabies to the stars' She has had songs featured in the TV series Nikita, John Woos Once a Thief and the Lions Gate sci-fi film Xchange and has been awarded grants from FACTOR (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Record and a VideoFact grant from Canada's music station MuchMusic for her song Maybe which will featured on the forthcoming album.
She writes all the songs records and plays most, if not all of the instruments. on her forthcoming album. For live gigs she relies on a collection of talented shipmates, because it would be pretty hard playing drums, keys, guitars, bass and sing lead and harmony vocals all by herself. Just imagine............
