In 2004, in the little town of Scottsburg, Indiana
Ryder McQueen Snelling set out to assemble what he would call an"ensemble of truly unified and flawlessly harmonized creative entities. Snelling, a fourteen year old guitar player and amateur songwriter, was consciously seeking a connection and compatibility between himself and those he would play with that you can feel in the music. Ryder felt striving for this was necessary to move forward on this "exploration of expression and truth" as he would put it.
Fortunately, it wasn't long before Ryder met Jeremy Richardson, a talented drummer a grade ahead of Ryder at Scottsburg High School. Mutually impressed by one another's ability, they hit it off gathering a keyboardist, rhythm guitarist, and a bassist and calling themselves The Flew. The Flew was Ryder's temporary vessel as he searched to complete the ensemble. He was very thankful for Jeremy, but he knew the others were not permanent. After around two years of playing regional gigs and getting a taste of the brutal music business, Ryder was introduced to Dylan Carroll, another vital piece to the puzzle. Dylan swiftly replaced the former rhythm guitarist, but his real treasure was his very proficient harmonization over Ryder's vocals.
Soon after, Ryder realized that the desertion their first bassist was inevitable, and their was no one to replace him. Just days before the separation was final and a local show, Ryder and the others felt despair, but by word of mouth a light of hope shined upon them in the form of Matt Johnson, a soft-spoken underclassman and bassist Ryder hardly knew. They arranged a meeting, and the chemistry was instantaneous. Matt was excellent. This is the one, Ryder thought, and Matt proved it by substituting for and becoming the bassist for the band at that upcoming local show.
Since then, the keyboardist left, the band has changed their name and grown to sound phenomenal, and the Matter of Time EP has been recorded. Influentially, the band has been shaped by all genres of music and sounds in general, but the strongest influences that might be heard in The Ryder McQueen Band's music would be Radiohead, The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes and Led Zepplin.
