Bio

The response of musicians and audiences rewards and reciprocates her passion and intensity. A phenomenon occurs when she gets on stage. Regardless of the ensemble, she enlivens any set. It is evident in the reaction that she gets from musicians. She seamlessly fits into any ensemble as a musician. Stacey will engage any member of the band in an improvised “call and response” or “follow my lead” that drives audiences wild.
Stacey has been privileged to perform at the Fox Theatre – Atlanta; Snug Harbor, Sweet Lorraines, Vincent's, The Bombay Club - New Orleans; Sullivan's, Gino's, Swamp Mama's, Avoyelles, Casino Rouge, Argosy Casino - Baton Rouge; Bar Bleu – State College; CJ’s – Pittsburgh; The Kennedy Center – Washington D.C, Carnegie Hall – New York City; The Allen Theatre at Playhouse Square Center - Cleveland as well as other venues.
She has shared the stage with such extraordinary musicians as Roger Humphries, Ulysses Owens, Wess Anderson, Dwayne Dolphin, Rodney Whitaker, Bobby McFerrin, Patrice Rushen and Christian McBride. She has been under the tutelage of Sunny Wilkinson, Sheila Jordan, Barbara Morrison, John Blake and two-time Grammy winner Kim Nazarian of the New York Voices. She has had the wonderful opportunity to attend master classes taught by Nnenna Freelon, Vanessa Rubin, Barbara Morrison, Sheila Jordan, Jimmy Cobb and has been one of six students selected in the Dianne Reeves’ Vocal Jazz Residency at Michigan State University. She has also had the honor of being selected and receiving a scholarship for the Jazz in July Program at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst which was led by Dr. Billy Taylor. Stacey was among a group of promising young musicians invited to Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead program which was developed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. by Dr. Billy Taylor and directed by Dr. Nathan Davis.
Stacey has been recently selected to the Professional Training Workshops, a program of the Weill Music Institute of Carnegie Hall featuring Bobby McFerrin’s Vocal Improvisation | Instant Opera! and has received a full scholarship to attend the Centrum Jazz Workshop led by Artistic Director John Clayton. She recently sang as a back up singer for grammy award winner George Benson and won 2nd place in the 2009 Montreux Jazz Festival Voice Competition in Switzerland. Stacey is also the recipient of the 2009 Neumann-Sennheiser Scholarship for the BGSU New York Voices vocal jazz camp. This summer, Stacey and her trio was one of four groups selected to participate in the JAS Academy in Aspen, Colorado directed by world renown bass player Christian McBride.
