Stale Cum- The final act was easily the most theatrical of the day. Up to that point in the day the vibe in the basement had been one of jovial comradry, and drunken shenanigans. Stale Cum took that energy and transformed it into a type of uneasy tension that crests over into cathartic release. Slugey grooves suddenly erupt into blastbeats and then recede into sonic mush. Every member of the band seems to perform in character, but none more convincingly than singer/musical Svengali Alex Minnelli. He performs like a man possessed, and at points I honestly feared for his safety. His misanthropic front-creature persona seems to borrow equally from Norwegian Black Metal, Commedia Del Arte, and Rollins in his prime. This set actually freaked me out… which is astounding. Stale Cum proved that performance art can happen at house party. They will be missed. - Sebby Ate My Records!

We are Hell Hammer on drums, Castor Oil on bass, Duluth Hibbing on mandolin, Bundle of Sticks on guitar, and Smear on vocals.
We made this. We built our home at the Rat's Nest (279 Flora St.), as part of our contribution to a legacy of residential live music venues in this city. Our music is the true folk music of Ottawa, Canada. Our name tends to insulate us from everything that seems to matter other than the music, which may include you. We support a youth friendly environment.
