Biography

‘Standard Fare’ are an up and coming three-piece indie-rock outfit based in Sheffield. Our songs have featured on Huw Stephens Radio 1 show multiple times and we’ve performed at his monthly gig at The Social in London. Other great gigs have included student festivals in Keele and York and regular appearances in Sheffield, Manchester, and York. We performed live on York Student TV and Radio and have been interviewed on High Peak local radio.
In 2008 we were signed to 'Thee Sheffield Phonographic Corporation' and have played one of their showcase gigs with other bands on the label. We recently recorded music with Thee SPC and are releasing a vinyl split single in the next month followed by another single and album over the coming year.
We’re good friends who try to make strong upbeat songs with quirky lyrics and an unusual twist. Emma and Dan have been writing songs since they were 15 and although they both work (Emma - PhD in Chemistry and Dan - Electrical Engineer) writing and performing is what they’re most passionate about. Andy (a Graphics Design student) brings much energy to the band and is interested in experimental drumming.

Love Doesnt just Stop

Written By: Emma Kupa

You said to me once, Love doesn't
just stop
But how can it keep
going when you're not
around?
*
You were in love, I'm
pretty sure of that
But somehow
you fell out, you fell out

You
said it wasn't my fault, that it
wasn't personal
But how can it
not be me when I was all you
had?
*

You said to me once,
but you were wrong
You were
wrong, and now you're gone
Do you
understand? I don't know if you
can
I don't know if you can. Do
you see what happened?
You
shutdown you shutdown

You said
let's be friends oh let's stay in
touch
But how can we stay in
touch when you don't talk?
*

Philadelphia

Written By: Emma Kupa

Global warming is getting me
down
Its making the sea between
us wider and deeper
Now I'm not
moses and I dont know how to split
up the ocean
and drive right on
over

*I'm gonna wait a year to
see you again in
Philadelphia

Now the sun is
shining its catching my eye
And
theres still so much work to
do
And I just wanna call you
But
even on the phone its not like
life
Oh I want you here now I
want you around

*

Now you're
in Israel having a good time
And
all I gets the odd email
Saying
you're fine

Now I could catch a
plane but I'm pretty broke
And I
dont wanna make things worse than
they already are
Now you could
come here but I know you wont
its
not in your nature to travel that
far
