Bio
Rob Schreiber created Standard Issue as a jazz expression of The Great American Songbook offering music for your corporate event, fundraiser, reception, dinner, rehearsal dinner, wedding reception and/or wedding dinner. Music in the background or foreground and we are able to accommodate dancing.
Piano trio - Piano, Acoustic Bass, and Traps. Vocals, brass woodwinds and guitar may be available upon request.
Why does Rob say he plays traps instead of drums? At the turn of the 20th century, drummers in the United States began putting together drums with pedals and cymbals, and when people first saw a drummer with this equipment they said, “What the hell is that contraption.” This was later shortened to Traps. Rob has an affinity for brushes with his major influences being Jo Jones, Vernel Fournier, and Elvin Jones.
The Great American Songbook is a treasury of music from the golden era of American popular song featuring such iconic songwriters as Duke Ellington, George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Johnny Mercer, Rogers & Hammerstein, Rogers & Hart, and Harold Arlen to name a few. We also feature bossa nova and other Latin music from such luminaries as Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Our Influences are: Ahmad Jamal Trio, Teddy Wilson Trio, Red Garland Trio, Nat King Cole Trio, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O'Day, and Frank Sinatra.
