…Stand Up Citizen takes you to a time when the kittens were out, the engines were fired up, and the best paint job on the block was flat black. Reminiscing of how you didn’t end up with the girl at the party, and how life doesn’t always seem like a bed of roses.

Biography

Stand Up Citizen offers up their share of youth inspired songs by staying true to the things that they believe in; songs about going after what they want, and the people and times that got them there. Friends, family, and being who they are is what is important to them, and it is what inspires this band and their songs. They believe in the way things were and the way they should be.

Formed in the summer of 2002, Stand Up Citizen, hailing from beautiful Albany, New York, proves that melodic guitar driven punk-rock is not a thing of the past. The four piece band’s first EP “One for the Road” was released in the summer of 2003. The 5 song disc album consists of a unique blend of punk-rock as well as snotty vocals, anthemic choruses, snappy bass lines and hook-heavy guitars.

With a hot rod style that delivers in-your-face vocals, the music touches on real life emotions. Stand Up Citizen is able to combine the bay-area punk scene of the ‘80s and ‘90s, the 50’s drag racing scene, and a hint of modern day pop-punk catchiness, effectively mixing multigenerational influences such as the Misfits, Rancid and the Vandals.

To put it in another perspective…Stand Up Citizen takes you to a time when the kittens were out, the engines were fired up, and the best paint job on the block was flat black. Reminiscing of how you didn’t end up with the girl at the party, and how life doesn’t always seem like a bed of roses.

This is an album that you’ll always crave for the drive home, or to add fuel to the fire of an already happening moment. These four guys’ attitude, style, and sound stand out as veterans in today’s music scene.

The band and their ‘no holds barred’, ‘do or die’ attitude has been turning the heads and ears of radio programmers, industry executives, and celebrities across the country over the past year. Their music and likeness has been featured in the film, “Knee Deep in the Bush” and will also be featured in the upcoming DVD from A Perfect Circle.

Lyrics

fueled and ready

Written By: stand up citizen - mike kliman

Outside running in free will
Tonight never gonna be still
A round of shots to the air

Full speed driving for a new day
Don’t Look back I’m heading the wrong way
Hold on follow me down

(chorus) 2x
(What’s real)
I feel with all my feelings
(The scars that I show)
Remain and keep bleeding

True love
Never gonna say die
What’s real is still my own lie
And when will all of this end

Last cry is finally broken
Ad more fuel, the fires still going
A passion burns deep inside

(chorus)2x

one for the road

Written By: mike kliman - stand up citizen

This times not like before, its time to settle the score
Your number is coming boy
( hold on for more)

I’ll keep my head held up high, my arms down by my side
With my finger on the trigger man
I’ll keep up the fight

(chorus)
And I’ll take what is mine
I’ll follow that Road , I’ll follow the wind
It takes me in
I’ll do what I can, that’s all I can do
Something will break, I’ve got nothing to loose
( yeah to loose)

the skies so dark I cant see, the air’s so thick I cant breathe
and I’ll stay where you left me you
(just set me free)

the smell of old gasoline, in drive
(living a dream)
and I’ll keep pushing forward
got a full head of steam

(chorus)

Well what if I stayed, then what would that change
Cause I’m someone different, and your still the same
So I’ll wait for that day when I see your face
I’ll wait for that moment
It takes me away

(chorus)

brand new day

Written By: mike kliman - stand up citizen

There’s a time and a place I wanna go
And take everyone I know
Where everyone is the same as me
So please don’t fail me not now, I’m sure I’ll make it somehow
Cause where I’ve been is so unclear until now.

(chorus)
There’s so much more I could have learned from you
Take me back
To a brand new day
There’s so much more I could have given you
Take me back
To a brand new day

What the hell is right and what is wrong
You know I said I don’t belong
Its just my point of view of things

And when we wanted more you lost it all
And I look back and I recall
How the fuck did we get here

(chorus)
