Bio

Stand Up Citizen offers up their share of youth inspired songs by staying true to the things that they believe in; songs about going after what they want, and the people and times that got them there. Friends, family, and being who they are is what is important to them, and it is what inspires this band and their songs. They believe in the way things were and the way they should be.

Formed in the summer of 2002, Stand Up Citizen, hailing from beautiful Albany, New York, proves that melodic guitar driven punk-rock is not a thing of the past. The four piece band’s first EP “One for the Road” was released in the summer of 2003. The 5 song disc album consists of a unique blend of punk-rock as well as snotty vocals, anthemic choruses, snappy bass lines and hook-heavy guitars.

With a hot rod style that delivers in-your-face vocals, the music touches on real life emotions. Stand Up Citizen is able to combine the bay-area punk scene of the ‘80s and ‘90s, the 50’s drag racing scene, and a hint of modern day pop-punk catchiness, effectively mixing multigenerational influences such as the Misfits, Rancid and the Vandals.

To put it in another perspective…Stand Up Citizen takes you to a time when the kittens were out, the engines were fired up, and the best paint job on the block was flat black. Reminiscing of how you didn’t end up with the girl at the party, and how life doesn’t always seem like a bed of roses.

This is an album that you’ll always crave for the drive home, or to add fuel to the fire of an already happening moment. These four guys’ attitude, style, and sound stand out as veterans in today’s music scene.

The band and their ‘no holds barred’, ‘do or die’ attitude has been turning the heads and ears of radio programmers, industry executives, and celebrities across the country over the past year. Their music and likeness has been featured in the film, “Knee Deep in the Bush” and will also be featured in the upcoming DVD from A Perfect Circle.
