"Stan The Man"

earBuzz.com Review Stan the Man's offers 2 CDs - the full album, "A Breath of Fresh Air", and the EP, "Spider-Dance", which includes one track from ". . .Breath" along with version for Stan's dedicated dance super hero mover. Stan's style is grooving well crafted R&B tunes that remind us of Al Jarreau and a classic Philly sound, all wrapped up in lyrical content that puts love and marriage on a pedestal of beauty. It's a rare thing, indeed, to find an artist who has an accomplished vocal quality - trained and controlled, expressive and kind - along with a writing talent that is refined to put out commercially melodic lyrical gems. The opening track, "If You Only Knew", is a Philly sounding pop R&B wonder. Stan describes his mission to prove his love - and tells his baby, 'if you only knew what I have in store for you'. . In the title track "A Breath of Fresh Air", Stan supports his voice with a dance groove ala PYT from Michael's best, as he croons expertly, 'when you walk into a room, oh baby, my head begins to swoon, oh baby - girl you are my breath of fresh air'. In "Don't Let Love slip Away", Stan uses a melodic convention that is perfect in the lyric, "you say tomorrow I say this is the day' .listen. Stan's compositional depth is apparent in "The Love of My Life", as he modulates like a finely-tuned jazz vocal group (Manhattan Transferish) with a hook that should make a place in wedding music standards - 'you are the love of my life, and I want you to be my wife, and I’m waiting for that special day when I can say I do to you..'. Immediate classic music - Stan's the Man - and he is one of the finest R&B Pop talents working - destined for big things if he pushes and gets in front of people - Earbuzz.com

"Smooth Love Balladeer"

*** Smooth balladeer started his career in Gospel and has made his foray into secular music with a refreshing collection of Adult Contemporary R & B reminiscent of his influences Luther Vandross and George Benson. Slipping from tenor to falsetto with ease the charming "If You Only Knew" boasts a sugary melody and flawless backing replete with tasteful strings, jingling guitar flourishes and a coasting beat. Kind of reminds me of Gerald Levert in the 80s- clean and sleek Pop/R & B with slight Jazz overtones. The title cut opens with a bubbling bass line followed by a layer of bright horns followed by a gentle Jazzy groove far removed from the touch of Hip Hop that dominates Contemporary "R & B". These unabashed retro leanings now feel like a "breath of fresh air". While I lean more towards the grittier, raspier side of the Soul pantheon I find Stan's songs have an instantly familiar quality with a timeless message of fidelity and marriage that is hard to find fault with. Romantic titles like "The Only One for Me", "The Love of My Life" & "Love Is Real" dominate Stan's music. His bio even states "This could be the beginning of whole new genre called Positive Pop R & B". Hey- props to Stan for spreadin' the love in a jaded, cynical climate. Perhaps "The Love of My Life" could serve as an aid to men who are courting' with lyrics like "And I'm waiting for that special day when I can say 'I do' to you..." Everybody should have a few easy listening discs in their collection and I can't find any reason not to recommend Stan the Man. - Blues Critic .com

Bio

Stan The Man Griffin is a unique individual in that he has, so many facets to his persona that stems from the gifts that he has. This Singer, Songwriter, Musician and Recording Artist has a chameleon like ability to become what ever is necessary, at the time of need to get what needs to be done, for that moment in time.

Stan The Man grew up in a small Midwestern town in Ohio 35 miles north of Cincinnati. Middletown Ohio was predominantly a sports town that bolstered the likes of basketball great Jerry Lucas and future NFL Hall of Fame nominee Cris Carter. In Middletown the only outlet that a young African American could look forward to was a career in sports. And that is exactly what Stan dreamed of becoming until one day he wandered into the basement of his home, and picked up the sax that his older brother played, and began to play as if he had been playing for years. His mom yelled to his older brother; knock it off its getting late, and Stan replied, he’s not home mom it’s me Stan!

Not long after that Stan had his own Sax, and by the age of fifteen he was playing in night clubs. After joining bands and traveling across the nation performing in Military NCO clubs, Stan decided he would take his career in a different direction. Moving to California for a short while and opening as a lead singer for vocal bands, for such national known acts as the Manhattans and Regina Bell. Stan longed for the comforts of a more familiar atmosphere, so he moved back to Ohio and began to record two Contemporary Christian CD’s.

Stan’s love for music had always been rooted in the R&B love ballads performing covers of his influences such as Luther Vandross, Jeffrey Osborne, and Lionel Richie. Stan recorded his first Demo ‘Love is Real’ that had an appeal to the Main Stream R&B scene. Stan formed his own Record Label, STM Entertainment, and Released his first mainstream Pop R&B CD, titled “A Breath of Fresh Air” which appealed to the market as a whole and Europeans loved the CD more because of it's Classic R&B Style and the A Breath of Fresh Air CD spoke to their love for American R&B singers.

Stan later wrote and recorded Spider-Dance, The New Spider-Man Theme Song that just hit home with Spider-Man fans across the globe, and listeners thought that Spider-Dance captured the essence of the Super Hero. This is just the beginning for Stan The Man and their will be a lot more good stuff coming from Stan The Man!
