My name is Dwight Hagins by birth but, my industry name is STAR.I am a song writer from Hazard, Kentucky but I live in Lexington, Kentucky.I've wrote music since I was in the the 5th grade.Writing song lyrics was a way for me to cope from stressful situations while growing up.What sets me apart from other writers is the fact that I have the ability to write every genre of music.Since I was raised in Eastern Kentucky I was exposed to different genres such as Pop,Country,Rock,R&B,and I'm also capable to write soundtrack.
My biggest influence while growing up where writers such as Smokey Robinson,Prince,Michael Jackson,Paul McCarthy,Elton John,and Willie Nelson,are just a few of my idols.
My music is my life.When the sunrises it's music! When the sunsets it's music! I rise and fall with my music.When I was younger I didn't really understand the talent that GOD blessed me.What may take other writers a month or a week to write I can do within a day.
I went through the most painful part of my life in 2011.I was arrested and was sentenced to 37 months at a Federal Camp.I was gone from my family for 19 months before I was released.In that time period I went through every emotion.My life was fueled by anger,hate,depression,anxiety,and heartache.Even though I would never wish to go back but I can say that at the time period it was exactly what I was in need to go through.Every negative person that I chose to be around at that time was removed from my life and I got back into what I do best.Write! For 19 months I didn't listen to any music.I didn't listen to the radio,watch videos,CD's,or a MP3. I dedicated myself to my style and I didn't want my music to be influenced by anyone else.I want my music to be from me and in doing that I developed my style, my sound.In today's industry most people will know a song wrote my Neo,or The Dream because of the sound that they've created in the Industry.I truly believe that I will have the same results as those great writers.
I was a member of R&B/Pop group named Status.As a member I wrote songs that gained allot of fans and still today people listen to those songs.In this EPK I will be adding those same songs and I hope you will hear the same talent.
In this life everyone has a purpose.For years I didn't realize what my purpose was.I can say now that I was put on this Earth to write music.While you're looking and listening to my work I hope you will see what I can bring to Music Industry and can be a great asset to your company.
