Bio

STARBIRD is the debut project of Alexandra Larson. Although this is her first original project, Larson is certainly no stranger to the stage. Throughout high school she performed with several classical choruses in venues including Veteran's Memorial Auditorium in Providence and Carnegie Hall in New York City. As a student at Boston College, she went on to become a the Musical Director of the Sharps, an all female a cappella group. These rich experiences allowed her undeniable presence and energy on stage to develop.

"There's nothing more exhilarating than singing and entertaining for your friends and peers. But there was so much of my own music inside of me, itching to come out. I just didn't know exactly what to do with it," says Larson, age 22. The answer came in the late fall of 2010 when she enrolled in an Audio Production course at BC, began to fall in love with the art of music engineering and wrote and recorded an original composition specifically for her final project. That composition, "Spinning," started the avalanche of song-writing that began in early 2011. Larson adds, "What I have experienced since I started writing my own songs has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The best part about it is that I know now that I have started, I won't ever stop."

While Alexandra appreciates a great deal of genres and musical styles and hopes to explore as many as she can, STARBIRD combines the influences of experimental bands such as MuteMath and MGMT with the rich R&B vocal melodies of the likes of Mariah Carey, Joss Stone and Sade to create a unique and enticing style that is all Larson's own. "At the end of the day, I try not to over think it. I just let it flow out of me."

STARBIRD is eager to share their sounds with anyone who will take a listen. "I am extremely excited to finally be able to share this with the world," says Larson in closing.
