Bio

Starfighter is a Ghent ( Belgium) based guitarrockband that started out as the lo-fi bedroom project of Limburg-born musician Tim Brown. He started experimenting with a vintage fourtrack machine his bedroom back in 1999, recorded some songs, took the demo to Kinky Star Records and got offered a record deal on the spot. Pretty soon after that, Lucce Waegeman (who is the labelmanager of Kinky Star) offered to join in on the bass and drummer Jen Bernon also joined, this making Starfighter a 'real' three piece band. A first single, Beautiful Machine', was recorded , it grabbed the attention of Belgium's national alternative radio station 'Studio Brussel' and in 2001 Starfighter recorded their debut album, named 'Make A Sex Noise' , produced by Niek Meul (of Belgian pop band Das Pop). The first single of this album, 'About You' entered the 'Hot List' and got massive airplay on Studio Brussel. This took Starfighter to every major summerfestival stage in Belgium (Pukkelpop, Dour festival, Maanrock, Marktrock...) and gave them loads of opportunities, such as playing the aftershow of The Strokes first Belgian concert at the AB club in Brussels, and opening up for Ash at L'aeronef in Lille, France. At that period, Starfighter also did a small Belgian and European tour and played numerous venues in Holland, France, Switserland, Germany and Scotland.

2005 brings us the release of the second STARFIGHTER album, baptised 'ORION', once again produced by Niek Meul and engineered by Gareth Parton (Placebo, The Go! Team, The Killers, Polyphonic Spree). Also new to Starfighter in 2005 is guitar whizz Sebastian of labelmates Dr. Pepper Family.
New album ORION will take some time to find its way into people's hearts as it is no instant record. ORION brings us all sorts of different moods and is an honest record of a band that does exactly as they please without jumping on the easy train of musical trends. From instrumental opener 'Theme' 'till the last note of 'Demons at Play' ORION spits out guitar music in a wide variety of styles. Starfighter can not and will not be labeled, since their own taste in music is way too versatile
