BandAlternativeRock

People listen to our music and say ''What the f*** is that'' because they're unable to compare it to something. A big bunch of creativity mixed up with strong lyrics. That's Starting Lineup baby!

Biography

The music of Starting Lineup doesn't slide on it's own. It sticks and leaves its marks on the walls. They have been around Montreal and other regional areas for quite sometime now. They won the Saint-Jérôme's Battle of the Bands in 2009 and they also participated in fund raiser show. The money isn't as much important to them as much as the motivation to play.

At the end of 2009 came out Workout, their first EP with 5 tracks that had a lot of success nearby their fans. This successful beginning comforts the band to continue to make music and even if their culture and lives are in Quebec, they sing in English because the language is more prosper to their music and is easier to be known worldwide.

Ever since Workout, Starting Lineup continues writing new songs. They do shows every once in a while and continues to refine their musical style. In April 2010, Michael represented his band at the prestigious Musexpo in Los Angeles accompanied with their manager Sean Cassidy. This little escapade in the industry of music gave them a chance to meet with Stephane Dussault from The Respectables with whom they recorded their second EP titled Shining Like a Dead Star. The official release will be in a few months. They also opened for Vulgaires Machins (a major band in Quebec) at the end of summer 2010 and they participated to the Omnium du Rock in November.

Last summer, the band was very active. They played at the D-TOX Rockfest, at the Festival d'Été de Beloeil, at La Ronde and participated to a couple of small shows. Stay Tuned!

Lyrics

Cross the Line

Written By: Michael Cassidy-Robert

VERSE 1
Chase lost control of his mind
Wearing his best poker face
Focused on the winning prize
Never thought he'd cross the line
Reflecting back when times were good
Life with him was understood
Now about to loose his way
And loose it all in just one day

VERSE 2
Never thought a man this strong
Could screw it up and go so wrong
Blame in economic times
Yeah whatever was on his mind
Empty pockets walking home
He'll find himself now all alone
The family that once he had
Has gonna buy a brand new dad

CHORUS
Try to remember
Cause now it's all over
Watch out cause these events
Won't keep it all together
C-H-A-S-E is going down

VERSE 3
Chase lost control of his mind
Addiction was his weakest link
Nothing left but one last dime
Knowing soon he'd cross the line
Brings him to this point and time
To lead a loosing life of crime
Hands are stained and dripping red
A life he took now on his head

CHORUS
Try to remember
Cause now it's all over
Watch out cause these events
Won't keep it all together
C-H-A-S-E is going down

BRIDGE
Chase lost control of his mind
And he's about to leave this place
Walk the green mile to the sun
Give it all up and cross the line
Give it all up and cross the line
Give it all up and cross the line
Give it all up and cross the line

CHORUS
Try to remember
Cause now it's all over
Watch out cause these events
Won't keep it all together (x2)

Shining Like a Dead Star

Written By: Michael Cassidy-Robert

VERSE 1
Here’s an old man who had a dream
Fly high above the sky
And take a walk right through the stars
Where no one could hear him scream

VERSE 2
Now everynight he stands at the bar
Wondering of what he'd missed
He’s a closed file, he's an old man now
Twinkle, twinkle far he goes

PRE-CHORUS
He was dreaming
But soon his time will come
Shining like a dead star

CHORUS
Shinin'
Shi-shi-shinin'
Like a dead star (x2)

VERSE 3
Here’s an old man and his broken dream
Drowning in a pool of tears
His desperation he never hides
And all the world can hear him scream

PRE-CHORUS
He was dreaming
And then all hope was gone
And he's still shining
But soon his time will come
Shining like a dead star

CHORUS
Shinin'
Shi-shi-shinin'
Like a dead star (x2)

Shinin'
Shi-shi-shinin' (x2)

And then all hope was gone
But soon his time will come

Shinin'
Shi-shi-shinin'

Lorie

Written By: Michael Cassidy-Robert

VERSE 1
Lorie, how could you put
That spell on me
You're beautiful
But I'm too shy
To talk to you
So talk to me please
Cause I wanna be
Yeah!

CHORUS
With you
My chance to be with
My chance to be with
My chance to be with you

VERSE 2
Lorie, I’m sick of you
What did you do
Stop holdin’ him
So we could fly
Away from this place
Anywhere, I don’t care
Cause I just wanna be
Yeah!

CHORUS
With you
My chance to be with
My chance to be with
My chance to be with you

BRIDGE
I've been stuck here in my shell
Someone save me from this hell
Tried to find the words to say
How I've never felt this way
She just stops me in my tracks
Fear feeding my heart attack
This whole scene is getting old
Now it's time I take control

CHORUS
Or I’ll be missing something, missing
Or I’ll be missing something, missing
My chance to be with
My chance to be with
My chance to be with you
Lorie! Yeah!

Too Young to Care

Written By: Michael Cassidy-Robert

VERSE 1
Sweet brown eyes are shinin'
I wish I was dreamin'
She took my spirit and ate it
But I love her and I hate it
Go pain, go sadness
My heart burst in my chest
Is she too young to care?
But she ain't too young to dare

CHORUS
These are empty questions, they're killing me
Today, I moved on and I see clearly
No one ever told me love was so unfair
She'll never be old enough to care

VERSE 2
Though she love me at the start
My world is fallin' appart
She was havin' all the fun
But mine had yet to come
No way, there's no way she could take the rightway
Is she too young to care?
But she ain't too young to dare

CHORUS
These are empty questions, they're killing me
Today, I moved on and I see clearly
No one ever told me love was so unfair
She'll never be old enough to care

No one ever told me love was so unfair
She'll never be old enough to care

Too young to care (x3)

The Meeting

Written By: Michael Cassidy-Robert

VERSE 1
Someone is knocking, knocking at my cell door
Leave me alone, don't wanna meet the devil
Took the path the path that led the wrong way
Gave up on what you call a better day
All actions point to loosing dignity
In the end I lost my identity
Too late to try and find a way back
I lost sight on what they call the right track

CHORUS
Devil calls my name
Says I'm the one to blame
My sentence has come down
No way to turn back now

VERSE 2
I'm feeling lost and this is out of my control
Kiss this away life my cage a new home
Negotiate the time for all the bad I've done
Judgment day is close my end is soon to come
Going to the meeting that will judge my life
Rot in jail, count the days and do my time
Messed up bad, I'm the one who dealt the hand
I'm coming back in a second life a new man

BRIDGE
Only one to blame is me it's true
Hammer coming down to follow through
Pain is what I brought now pain you bring
Here to pay the price for how I've lived (x2)

CHORUS
Devil calls my name
Says I'm the one to blame
My sentence has come down
No way to turn back now

Like a Newborn

Written By: Michael Cassidy-Robert

VERSE 1
I've been kicked when down, but anyway
You can look the other way
Everyone has a reason
Ashamed for my feelings

CHORUS
My life was messed up just like yours
But now that I've given up
I'm feeling like a newborn
My life was messed up so I cut these cords
Escape from empty
And this world of scorn

VERSE 2
Your afraid to be out of time
Not a concern of mine
Welcome with open arms
The end is not so far

CHORUS
My life was messed up just like yours
But now that I've given up
I'm feeling like a newborn
My life was messed up so I cut these cords
Escape from empty
And this world of scorn

BRIDGE
God is waiting for me
He’s gonna set me free (x8)

CHORUS
My life was messed up just like yours
But now that I've given up
I'm feeling like a newborn
My life was messed up so I cut these cords
Escape from empty
And this world of scorn (x2)
