Bio
Starveya was formed by lead singer/guitarist Aaron Martinez in Los Angeles in 2007. Known for their psychedelic, noise-rock, experimental sound, Starveya has built a loyal local following throughout Southern California.
The bands musical influences include The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Smashing Pumpkins, Janes Addiction, Pink Floyd, The Beatles and Black Sabbath.
After some lineup changes over the years, Martinez started to solidify a lineup, when he asked his sister, Desiree Martinez, to join on bass guitar. He also asked friend and metal bassist Kenny Lockwood to play drums, bringing a harder edge to the groups sound. Soon after, longtime friend Paul Reagor joined on keyboards, which gave a new depth to the music. Desiree took on guitar when bassist Matt Peterkin joined after parting with his band at the time. Together, this lineup sealed the new direction of the band and changed the dynamic of the music in a refreshing way.
With the lineup complete in 2010, Starveya began work on their first five-song EP, Stellar Womb, with producer Juan Lopez at Casa de Lopez Studios. The bands first single, Devil, captures the groups signature sound with melodic vocals and fuzzy, effect driven guitars. Other singles from Stellar Womb, such as the haunting, theatrical track Harlequin, promise a captivating montage of sounds on the New record. Starveya will be hosting a record release party to promote Stellar Womb in the of Fall 2012.
