Starveya was formed by lead singer/guitarist Aaron Martinez in Los Angeles in 2007. Known for their psychedelic, noise-rock, experimental sound, Starveya has built a loyal local following throughout Southern California. The band’s musical influences include The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Smashing Pumpkins, Pink Floyd, The Beatles and Black Sabbath.
In time, Martinez started to solidify the right lineup when he asked his sister, Desiree Martinez, to join on guitar. He also asked friend and former metal bassist/drummer Kenny Lockwood to play drums, bringing a harder edge to the group’s sound. Longtime friend Paul Reagor joined on keyboards, which gave a new depth to the music. After a long search for the right bassist, Mathew Messeberg joined as the final fifth member. Together, this lineup sealed Starveya’s new direction. With the band completed, Starveya began work on a follow up to their debut album,“Stellar Womb,”. The band’s first single, “Devil is My Dealer” captures the group’s signature sound with melodic vocals and fuzzy, effect driven guitars. Other singles from “Stellar Womb,” include the haunting, theatrical track “Harlequin” and the psychedelic "Razor Ribbon". The band promises to take their sound to even stranger new places on the upcoming record.
