STATON: Rock’n Soul!

New soul-funk-rock talent from the Netherlands is rare. But every now and then there’s a new artist that will stun everyone. You'll stumble across a pleasant musical surprise! The band Staton is a good example of such a promising act.

Powerful force behind the band is the 22-years old singer from Amsterdam named Lara Mol. In the beginning of 2010 she was looking for an ambitious group of musicians to form a band with. She found some of them at Tilburg’s’ Rock academy and then completed the band with two guys that she already knew as well as admired, before. The result is above expectations, it’s a strong group of talented youngsters that play with pleasure and passion, convincing every venue ‘s audience. The band is creating their own unique sound, live as well as in the recording studio!
Since they started touring Holland less then a year ago they already played over 60 gig’s (www.statonmusic.nl/agenda)

The artists that inspire them you can find on labels like Motown and Stax (Aretha Franklin,Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder,Candi Staton,Tower of Power) but surprisingly among them there are also artists like The Doors and Steve Winwood.
Present artists they admire are for example are Lenny Kravitz, John Mayer,Amy Winehouse,Ryan Shaw and John Legend.

Interhuman relationships
Mol tries to find the same dept in her lyrics. She writes and sings about almost everything that interests or bothers her in life.
Important subjects such as (of course) love and any other human relationship. For example in “Glitter ain’t gold”she sings about people that want to present themselves as somebody better/richer/important as opposed to who they really are.

Debutalbum
Right now the band is finished working on the debut-album. Lara wrote songs with co-writers such as Martijn Konijnenburg, Orfeo Bouman, Marc Bien, Llewy is Sell,Bart Possemis, Delivio Reavon and her own bandmembers . And the results are more than promising.
So far Staton recorded two tracks with producers Martijn (Tienus) and Skiggy RapZ and fourteen new tracks with soundtechnician/producer Okkie Huysdens: “”It’s really cool to work with this young band, they know what they want and we can make that happen all together!

The debutalbum (which contains twelve tracks) is released May 2, 2011 in Paradiso Amsterdam, and available on I-Tunes and through Go! Entertainment/Rough Trade (Benelux).
The band will presented the album Mai 2 at the Paradiso Amsterdam in a full house and will tour Holland again.
Their 2nd single “Prove my love” (Release April 1,I-tunes) now already enters several playlists at Dutch radio and the new video will be edited a.s.a.p.
