""Steady Ground", Breaking Ground"

Friday, April 23, in Long Beach at Khourys'Restaurant, around 11:00 p.m. on stage 2, Steady Ground set up, took to the stage and made the ground under everyones feet
rock and roll.

The band, drummer Ron Welty (formerly of Offspring),George Squires, guitar, Kyle Rogan, bass, Jared Woods, guitar and Rick Stitch, vocals come together to form a powerful new band that is gonna rocket it's way to the top. The energy and enthusiasm together with enormous talent coming from each member of the band made the technical problems that were a recurring theme that night go unnoticeable. They made everything look smooth and effortless.

Khourys' Restaurant boasts 3 stages that allows 34 bands to rotate playing. Steady Ground had stage 2 and waited patiently for the band before them add one more song to their set, even dancing to the bands music. Then all the people present learned the difference between amateur and professional and good playing and bringing down the house. It's been said Ron Welty formed this band and you have to simply be amazed at the talent he put together. Amazing drumming (of course) awesome guitar playing and Rick Stitch a combination of Glenn Danzig and Jim Morrison (I know what a combination) singing his heart and soul out, strutting his stuff and interacting with the audience and his fellow band mates. You could feel the connection, the energy, the magic. This was something different. When you were watching them you knew you were watching the beginning of something big.

Their new cd "Jettison" is finished and awaiting a release date. You can hear some of their music by going to Steadyground.com and then clicking on myspace. The next thing you do is show up on April 14 at 8:30 p.m. at the Malibu Inn 22969 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, Ca. 90265 to see their next performance. Grab a group of friends and get a good meal and a rockin good show and one hell of a great time and remember when this band is filling up huge stadiums you can let everyone know you were up close and personal with Steady Ground at the Malibu Inn. - BrooWaha

Bio

The producer of The Offspring's "Smash" has a saying... "The more of a pain in the ass it is to make the record, the better the record will be". His ability to deal with the many road bumps involved with making an exceptional record and his attention to detail took "Smash" on to sell more than 11 million copies… the largest selling independent record of all time. To Date, The Offspring has sold more than 34 Million copies and after 15 years of driving The Offspring on drums, Ron Welty brings his experience to his new home...Steady Ground. This experience mixed with the fresh energy of the younger band mates; Rick Stitch- Vocals, George Squiers- Guitar, Jared Woods- Guitar, and Kyle Rogan- Bass, helps make Steady Ground a well-rounded, well-oiled machine.
They have appropriately titled their debut album "Jettison"… a word that accurately describes the bands attitude about what it takes to reach a goal. It points out the irony of sometimes needing to go to the degree of dumping fuel from an airplane to reach the destination… Steady Ground.
The music is aggressive, urgent and has huge anthem choruses that will transport you to the nearest arena with your fist in the air. The response from their live shows has been intense and is clearly an area that Steady Ground excels.
There has also been an overwhelming response on MySpace with more then 41,000 friends added in a matter of months.
Steady Ground's influences are... Stone Temple Pilots, AudioSlave, Fugazi, Velvet Revolver, U2, The Cure, Pearl Jam, ColdPlay and yes...The Offspring. Although the record is cohesive, the songs are as diverse as the bands influences giving everyone something to sink their teeth into. Their sound is a combination of these many great bands, past and present, which have stood, and will stand, the test of time. Their emphasis is on classic and timeless melodies and rhythms that could have been written 10 years ago or 10 years from now.
Although reminiscent of these bands, Steady Ground has developed a genuinely unique sound. The members of the band have studied music extensively at specialized schools and/or through private lessons. They implement their knowledge by using well-developed chord inversions, diads and floating root notes between their two guitars and bass. The result is a non-compromised debut record, balanced with up-tempo, mid-tempo, and slower, more epic tunes.
