STEELE’S LET’S STAY TOGETHER HITS THE CHARTS IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND CANADA.
Steele is once again humbled by the overwhelming response he’s been receiving for his adaptation of Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together.
The song has been receiving immense airplay both locally and internationally, and it’s only fitting that it has started to grace the charts in different markets.
Let’s Stay Together first appeared on the ressie top ten chart published in the very popular Canadian magazine Reggae Exclusive which over the years has helped to highlight Steele’s continued growth as a reggae artist.
In South Florida, the song, based on listener’s request has now made its way on the Ritchie Rich top ten charts eared on WAVS radio.
In Jamaica and many other parts of the globe, radio personalities and other media personnel have spoken of Steele’s consistency in delivering solid reggae music. They are convinced that with continued support, Steele’s longevity in the reggae industry is secure.

"STEELE IS THE RECIPIENT OF 2008 PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD"

The Toronto Jamaica Day Committee on Saturday July 26th made Steele its recipient of the 2008 People's Choice Award. The award presented to Steele on the night of his performance, marked a fitting end to a day when he once again showed his caliber as an artist.

When presenting the award, the man affectionately called Logi, a founding member of the committee spoke of the growth and development that Steele has attained, remembering the artist when he was once the lead singer for the popular reggae band Tatix, and now seeing him move on to a solo career and making significant strides in the business both locally and internationally.

"Receiving this award represents one of the proudest moments in my career, mainly so because I have consistently said, and still believe that the people are the real stars, they are the ones that decide if you make it or not in the music business. Seeing the response and hearing the overwhelming applause from the audience when the award was announced truly makes me feel honored,"Steele said afterwards.

Steele holds dear to the fact that good music will last forever and he consistently strives to produce and promote just that.

"CULTURE AND STEELE ROCKS IRIE FESTIVAL"

It was good vibes on Sunday August 3rd when Canadian sensation Steele and the veteran group Culture with new lead singer Kenyatta Hill the son of Joseph Hill performed at the Irie Music Festival held at Queen's Park in Toronto .

The free concert drew thousands from every nationality, many curious and anxious to hear and see what the new look Culture would deliver, and many to be enlightened and entertained by the rising star Steele.

Steele backed by the competent Mountain Edge Band was the first to hit the stage, and right away showed why he most recently received the People's Choice Award. Mr. energy dove in his arsenal and delivered hit songs such as Another Confrontation, Spirit of the Rastaman and his ever brilliant Slave Driver. He went back in time to the delight of the massive gathering with Girl I've got a Date and Picture on the Wall.

All hands were raised when he spoke of unity and togeatherness just before he unleashed Imagine and ended his set with the audience transformed into his choir; together they sung Jah is My Strength.

If you were there and closed your eyes, and just listened to the group Culture, there would be no denying that Joseph Hill was still alive. Many could be heard saying that Kenyatta Hill was a carbon copy of his father.

Every song that Culture performed drew a reaction from the audience. The harmonies were brilliant, and Kenyatta showed that being on the road with his father for years as an engineer and now the lead vocals of the group, has definitely helped in preserving the legacy and integrity of Culture.

Culture held nothing back in delivering hit after hit from their vast repertoire, and no one could get enough from the seasoned singers. Songs like Everywhere you See I Man echoed in the night as fans sung along with the group.

It is accurate to say that all in attendance left the park feeling fulfilled with performances from two incredible performers.
Culture and Steele truly delivered.

"STEELE TAKES TOP HONORS"

STEELE TAKES TOP HONORS AT THE RMAA

The night clearly belonged to Steele as he walked away with three honors at the Reggae Music Achievement Awards (RMAA) held on Sunday June 8th at the Holiday Inn Select hotel in Toronto. Jamaica's radio personality, Richie B, who had earlier received the award for international radio DJ of the year, had the pleasure of presenting Steele with the first of his three awards-album/cd of the year, "The Love of Jah". In his interview following the presentation, Richie B commented that "presenting Steele with the album of the year award was most fitting, since it was the first CD produced, recorded, and sung by an artist residing in Canada to ever hit the top ten album/cd charts in Jamaica".

This was just the beginning for Steele. Before long he was once again recognized as male vocalist of the year, and artist of the year.

The Mobs Produced artist has been consistent with his deliverance of good reggae music, and his contribution to the Canadian reggae industry has been clearly noticed by all.

The applause was overwhelming each time Steele went to receive his award, clearly indicating that all was in agreement with the accolades given to Steele.

True to his humble persona, Steele took time to thank his fans, his co-producer Ernie Tresfall of Reflex Music, and all media personnel around the world for their love and continued support of his work. He also thanked all that went online to vote for him, and finally, the awards committee that so professionally coordinated the event.

Steele later performed for his fans, and once again held nothing back in delivering an energy packed set with songs such as Another Confrontation, Breakfast in Bed and the ever spiritual Jah is My Strength.

The second staging of the RMAA will be a memorable one for Steele, with his three awards, he went away feeling blessed, and endeavors to continue producing, singing and promoting good reggae music for the global market.

Bio

Biography
STEELE
Genre: Reggae/R&B/Soul

Described as dynamic and sensational, with the versatility and range that defies restriction to any one genre. Steele is as captivating in his handling of R&B material as he is with soul, reggae, gospel, classical, and jazz. Born in Lucea Jamaica, Steele’s inspiration comes from his parents who sang on the church choir, where he too began singing at the tender age of 10. At age 11, he had developed an affinity for the drums noting that he was attracted to the physical appeal of this instrument. At 14, Steele entered the Herbert Morrison High School in Montego Bay, and it became clear that a career in music was eminent. He joined the school’s reggae band Mystic Force, which consisted of some of today’s well-respected musicians, Bengy Myaz, Paul Kastic, and Michael Stevens.

Steele’s first taste of success came with his recording of Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon in the Sky”, produced by veteran singer and producer Tristan Palmer, but before the song's full potential could be realized, Steele had to migrate to Toronto, Canada. This however did not stop his continued quest to achieve greatness while living in a reggae market normally ignored by the rest of the world, but his persistence has definitely paid off. He has broken the barrier. Steele is now regarded as the most consistent reggae artist to call Canada home, his music transcends all ages, gender and color. He has made an indelible imprint on the reggae music-loving audiences with appearances at various venues in most major cities in Canada. Steele has performed to rave reviews at the Montreal International Reggae Festival, the Jamaica Day Celebration held in Toronto and the Calgary Reggae Festival, just to name a few. He has appeared internationally performing in Africa to an audience in excess of 20,000 and is now starting to create a storm with his live performances in Jamaica. Steele has performed on shows such as Rebel Salute, regarded as Jamaica's biggest one day cultural reggae event, and has blessed the annual Peter Tosh Birthday Celebration, with his standout showmanship and charisma.

“Silhouette”, cover of the late D. Brown, represents Steele’s break-through song, and he has not slowed down since. Other songs to hit the local charts include “Jah Is My Strength”, which continues to be a source of inspiration to many around the globe. It is not surprising that Steele is a much sought-after artist for live performances. He has shared the stage with some of reggae’s most respected artists, such as Freddie McGregor, Rita Marley, Tony Rebel, The Melodians, Glenn Washington, Luciano, Beenie Man, Half Pint and Wayne Wonder among others.

Today, Steele has made his mark on the music industry and although most people recognize him as a singer, Steele is also an accomplished musician, songwriter, and producer who have earned a reputation as a perfectionist with his professional approach to his music. In 2004 Steele released his first full length solo CD/Album “Uncorrupted” and the world stood up to take note of this lyrically conscious brother. To date, Steele has been blessed with the achievements this album has attained. Tracks from “Uncorrupted” hit many charts globally and in Canada the cd was showered with many accolades which included Canada’s highest musical award, a Juno nomination for Reggae Recording of the Year. Steele has since then seen his popularity grow significantly, he accredits this to the blessings from the almighty and the love from his many fans who continue to support his music. It is now only fitting that three years later Steele has dropped his sophomore cd entitled “The Love of Jah” and the critics are hailing this as his finest work to date. Just before its release, Steele was blessed once again with the achievement of being named “Best Male Vocalist of the Year” and “Best Songwriter of the Year” by the Canadian Reggae Music Achievement Awards(CRMAA). He stills holds dear to the fact that without the love and support from the people he is nothing, so he continually gives thanks and praises to the creator for all blessings. Steele continues to make hit music and current hits such as “What's Wrong Wid Wi”, a duet with crooner George Nooks, his heart felt rendition of “Slave Driver”, the Bob Marley original and his sassy “Another Confrontation” are still blazing. In June 2008, Steele was once again honored by the CRMAA as Male Artist of the Year, Top CD/Album of the year for The Love of Jah, and the overall Artist of the Year. The sky is the limit for Steele and he continues to reach for it.
