"Stefan Alexander buries it deep in "Skeleton""

Stefan Alexander has unleashed his haunting debut single "Skeleton." Alexander is a talented crooner with a knack for creating fetching tunes. "Skeleton" is a mix of R&B, pop, and electro fused together to create a compelling track that's perfect for blasting in your car or on a weekend night."The song is about a very close friend I had in high school, but I rounded the friendship up to a romantic relationship for the sake of the song. The friendship ended in such a confusing and terrible way that it forever changed how I thought about the longevity of any relationship, both romantic and platonic" says Alexander.
He has a soulfulness to his voice that is brimming with luster and authenticity. Alexander is an artist who clearly wears his musical influences on his sleeve. Some of his idols include Billie Holiday, Cab Calloway, Whitney Houston, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Sam Cooke and Justin Timberlake. Alexander takes pride in creating songs that are true to him and his craft. He is a truly talented artist, who's musical career is off to a strong start. - Earmilk

"Stefan Alexander - Skeleton"

Stefan Alexander’s “Skeleton” is as haunting as its title suggests.

Soaring vocals, thundering drums, and finger-snapping electronics combine for a bone-chilling sound that’ll echo in your head for days. Written to commemorate the singer’s relationship with a close high school friend, the track’s poignant lyrics and snappy beat are the rare combination of both catchy and moving. It’s a brilliant debut from the Brooklyn-based artist, who we’re looking forward to hearing from again soon.

"Stefan Alexander - Skeleton"

Earlier this week, I wrote a piece about an ex-girlfriend who has become sort of a ghost in my life. Well, she used to be a ghost up until about a year ago.

Everywhere I turned, I swore I saw her. I started seeing her in everyone. I started seeing her in the girls I dated. It sucked for them, and was no better for me. I searched endlessly for someone to match to no avail.

Finally, an energy that can only be described as "out-of-this-world" came into my life. Most ancient scholars and great thinkers would describe this the same. That's when I found my inspiration again, in everything. I can turn the wind blowing or an alarm ringing into inspiration these days.

That's what I hear out of Stefan Alexander's latest jam titled, "Skeleton." A lot of inspiration from someone who finds it everywhere, musically.

Aside from the catchy song title and lyrics, there's so much more to this tune that you will love. There's passion in his vocals. There's memories that he'll never let go because they too, good or bad, provide inspiration.

You'll be sucked in by the heavy percussions and the cool tropical elements tossed all over this one. But I think it's the vocal performance that's going to keep all of us wanting more.

Check it out. Tell me if you agree. - Indieshuffle

"PREMIERE: STEFAN ALEXANDER - SKELETON"

This debut single from NY's Stefan Alexander is the definition of a bonafide earworm. Penned as an ode to a close high school friend, and documenting the potential turmoils of blurring the lines between friendship and romance, it manages to remain insanely addictive whilst admirably honest. In his own words: "The friendship ended in such a confusing and terrible way that it forever changed how I thought about the longevity of any relationship, both romantic or platonic." Influence wise, there are touches of the slickness of Justin Timberlake, married with the candor of the likes of SOHN or Chet Faker. All in all, big ambition, huge sound and plenty to get excited about. Check out Skeleton below. - Crack In The Road

"Stefan Alexander - "Skeleton""

While I may not post on the blog often as I'd like to these days, occasionally a song stands out and I must write about it before I forget. Stefan Alexander's song "Skeleton" is a song I couldn't ignore and have replayed a few times tonight already. The song has everything blended in from pop, electro, tropical, and R&B -- plus with a high pitched chorus that you'll find yourself singing out loud right along with Stefan. Stream the NY resident's song below and stay tuned for more.

"Stefan Alexander makes a powerful comeback with "Thunderclap""

Stefan Alexander has a lot riding on 2019. The NYC queer-pop artist — who we featured back in 2016 when he released his debut single “Skeleton” — has spent the past three years away from music on a medical hiatus. His powerful new single “Thunderclap” is an uplifting soul-pop jam that tackles that difficult period in his life. It’s proof that Alexander is back and better than ever and almost certainly a sign of good things to come. - All Things Go

Bio

Stefan Alexander is a NYC-based queer pop singer-songwriter, incorporating Joni Mitchell’s earnestness with the smooth stylings of Al Green. Stefan grew up in a artistic household playing multiple instruments including cello, piano, guitar and mandolin. While attending NYU’s Clive Davis program, he formed a folk band opposite pop singer Phoebe Ryan. In the NYC-folk clubs, Stefan honed his songwriting and vocals, ultimately realizing his strengths as a pop musician. Stefan began collaborating with producers Elliot Jacobson (Verite, Elle King) and Andrew Horowitz (John Legend, Janelle Monae) to discover his sound.

Stefan released his first single “Skeleton” three years ago to critical acclaim from sites like All Things Go, Earmilk, and Indie Shuffle. After charting on HypeMachine the track gained steam on Spotify, with over 1M streams to date. Shortly after the release, Stefan wrestled with a mysterious pain disorder that left him unable to sing and continue his journey. After three years of difficult rehabilitation, Stefan is finally able to perform again and hopes his story and songs will inspire others through their own hardships.
