BandFolkCabaret

My music is somewhere Baroque bar rock and rock cocoa. The sound of a melancholic curmudgeon bludgeoning. An inescapable desire to make ART. Driven by the song. 20 years of gigging and recording. Returned to Perth after a 15 year absence playing in Europe. The sun, the light. A new start...

Biography

Returned to Perth after years away. I played Glastonbury 2007 and 2008, toured in Europe several times. The last Perth band I played in was the Living Wrecks with Maurice Flavel and Brendon Humphies.

Instruments played:
• Guitar – classical, folk and electric styles. Banjo. Mandolin. Ukulele. Piano.

• The Last of the Changuistas (2007) was Huw Stephen’s inaugural album of the week on BBC Radio 1, and German Rolling Stone’s Editor’s Pick, stating we were the best band to come out of England in 2007.
• 6:06pm, a song I wrote and performed with The Epstein was used on the Mengejar Ombak: Chasing Waves soundtrack and won Best Original Music and Best Emerging Filmmakers at the X-Dance Festival 2009. (The sports documentary festival that runs in conjunction with the Sundance Film Festival).
• The Epstein was the first band ever to play live on BBC One from the BBC’s Oxford Studio.
• The Epstein won the acoustic category for 2007’s Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent competition. I played at the festival in 2007 and 2008.

Lyrics

Strange Days

Written By: Stefan Hamilton

Daddy’s got a habit, he’s as nervous as a rabbit,
Since he left the British Army in disgrace.
All the men he had in his charge, got a most unpleasant discharge,
And were well known to be buggered round the base.

His most shameful predilection pushed his wife into addiction,
From the friction of her own frustrated days.
There’s a tradesman always coming to investigate her plumbing,
While she drinks Martinis in her lingerie.

First I read it, then I said it. Quote my book but give me credit.

Strange days we’re living in I do declare.
Beware your daughters and your sons.
Strange days we’re living in but have a care.
All God’s children got guns. All God’s children got guns.
Do be careful please.

Daughter has a hobby, and she works out of the lobby,
Of an out-of-towners’ business hotel.
She’s prepared to go the distance and she offers no resistance
Coz her hand to mouth existence pays quite well.

Meanwhile at the breakfast table their young son is barely able,
To contain the rage and hate behind his eyes.
With his secret locked and loaded, when he finally exploded
Well, he cut those lying fuckers down to size.

First I read it, then I said it. Quote my book but give me credit.

Strange days we’re living in I do declare.
Beware your daughters and your sons.
Strange days we’re living in but have a care.
All God’s children got guns.

Strange days we’re living in I do declare.
Beware your daughters and your sons.
Strange days we’re living in but have a care.
All God’s children got guns. All God’s children got guns.
Do be careful please.
