Stefani Crabtree

Stefani Crabtree

BandFolkSinger/Songwriter

Imagine if Joni Mitchell, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, Jackson Browne and Lyle Lovett all got together and had a love child. Stefani has had her music compared to all five. Soulful and taking inspiration from life events, with Stefani anything is fair game.

Biography

At the age of 17 Stefani locked herself in her room with her mother's old Stella Harmony, a copy of "The Eagles Greatest Hits" and started the arduous process of teaching herself guitar. Eight years later Stefani is seen playing her Breedlove Guitar (named Stella in remembrance) and singing soulful ballads and spunky songs, all original material. Her voice has been described as "Christine McVie with a twist" and her stage presence, taking a page from such folk greats as Neil Young and Arlo Guthrie, engages the audience in stories and sing-alongs.

Although originally from Bend, Oregon, Stefani has lived abroad in five foreign countries, and the people and their music in these exotic places has influenced her songs. Stefani has played gigs around the US as well as in New Zealand, India, Vietnam and Samoa. Her love of performing shines through in each performance.

Lyrics

A Song for the Road

Written By: Stefani Crabtree

Driving 80 down some lonesome highway
My mind trying to focus on the road
My thoughts all akimbo, my heart is in limbo
I ain't got nowhere to go.

You drive me to distraction
Even when I'm so far away
You're like a chemical reaction
In my heart is where you'll stay

Headlight beams shining on down the road
Mimicking the blinking stars tonight
Sweet desert perfume rising in my nostrils
I am lost but I feel no fright

You drive me to distraction
Even when I'm so far away
You're like a chemical reaction
In my heart is where you'll stay

What if I never return?
And on this lonesome road find my release?
Run from this dolorous attraction
To a false and spurious peace

What if I never return?
And in this dry solitude find my relief?
Bones bleached to abstraction
Just a painting by O'Keeffe

Driving 80 down some lonesome highway
My mind trying to focus on the road
My thoughts all akimbo, my heart is in limbo
I ain't got nowhere to go.
I ain't got nowhere to go.
I ain't got nowhere to go.

For Dad

Written By: Stefani Crabtree

He's a big softy we used to say
Go to him if you want your way
He's short on discipline but long on love
He's sure sent from heaven above

And we're watching birds in the backyard
Or he's applauding me as a try real hard
It didn't matter what I did
He's always proud cause I was his kid

We're watching a baseball game
Cracker jacks? Thanks, I'll have the same
To my concerts he always came
Hooray! Dad's come to play.

Singin along to the radio
Off key but it don't matter, no
Your bad jokes still make me smile
I'd like to hear one it's been a while

And we're singing along to Little Feat
I know you dig that ol Zydeco beat
Air drummin in the driver's seat
Hooray! Dad's come to play!

I know it sounds corny but I'm sure glad
For all of these fun times we've had
A girl couldn't wish for a better dad
Hooray! Dad's come to play

I get It

Written By: Stefani Crabtree

You put it into my hand and said
Here's the world now go get it
You took me into your arms and said
Here's my heart now go get it

And I get it
And I get it
And I get it

The greatest gift you ever gave to me
Was the freedom to walk away
Standing there with the door wide open I said
Here's my man, now I'll stay

And I stay
And I stay
And I stay

And I get it
And I get it
And I finally got it
