Stef Dorfman began her musical training at the age of three when every car ride with her Dad held the promise of the question: “Stef, who's on the radio?” Now, after years of listening, classical vocal training and theatrical performance, as well as a stint at The Boston Conservatory of Music, Stef is an undeniable presence in the mainstream music scene. Since launching her solo career on The Rock Boat in January of 2006, Stef has built up her band, and is playing everywhere from Atlanta to Philly and New York to Nashville...and will be sailing once more on 2007's Rock Boat.
Influenced by the lyrical stylings of Dar Williams, the soul of Angie Stone, the emotion of Fiona Apple, and the honesty of Sheryl Crow, Stef's music holds not only tones of these artists, but also of various others in her vast music collection. Though inspired by others, Stef's music is definitively her own.
Stef was lucky enough to have long-time family friend David Rosen (drums) come off of a Nashville contract last March to join her in building her project. Having played with several well-known projects including Earth Wind and Fire, Kelsey DiMarco, The XMissAmericas, and Radio Theory, Dave was ready to hit the road less traveled. He reconnected with Radio Theory alumi Chip Jones (guitar/vocals) and Fitzgerald lingard to complete Stef's power trio. Brant McCaskill is Stef's most recent addition, rounding out the project's sound and scope of personalities.
Having grown up with three brothers, Stef loves being on the road with the guys. Her innovative sound, coupled with this band of consummately professional, energetic, and seasoned musicians promises every audience a uniquely enjoyable experience.
