"KFOG Review"

“There is a new sound emerging from San Francisco's music scene, and it falls somewhere between punk, and pretty. A three piece whose talent is apparent on every level. The powerful drums and grinding guitars are layered with angst, while the lyrics are melodic, and the singer, almost crooner-like. Please introduce yourself to Stella Royale”.

Bio

San Francisco based Stella Royale is the latest project from singer/songwriter John Spaw along with bassist/keyboardist Dave Craig who, over many years of collaboration, have developed an innate communication of musical expression. Both original members of San Francisco’s “The Lowdowns” (Junk Records/Nitro Records) have been playing bay area stages since the mid-nineties.
Together with drummer Rom Kuras, the three-piece dynamic collective of Stella Royale is a constant evolving work that pulls from their wide range of both musical and life-lived influences.
With a sound ranging from a bluesy, dirty slur from a smoke filled New Orleans bar at 2am, to a Carnival at an insane asylum for rock n’ roll junkies. Each song is an uncontrived and sincere story inherently different from the next. John’s vocal contrast of crooning falsettos and guttural howls are easily complimented by a soft acoustic strum heard along side gritty electric guitar riffs. Dave and Rom fill in the blanks using driving undertones and a thunderous, rhythmic pulse.
Each performance takes on a life of it's own fueled by the bands contagious and creative fervor. No two shows are quite the same despite their mainstay for aptitude and precision, captivating each audience with a sound that sticks to the soul.
