Perfect As You Are

Written By: Stephanie Carpenter

Perfect as you are
Lyrics and Music by Stephanie Carpenter

How can I possibly
Stand here beside you
And not touch you
How can I possibly not kiss you tenderly?
When I’m this close to your mouth

How can I possibly
Not want to make love
When I feel your breath on my cheek
How can I possibly not love you?
As perfect as you are

You might be the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen
Strong, gentle and kind
You might be the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen
Body, soul and mind

I don’t understand how,
You can have such
Power over me
I’ve become so, completely helpless
And weakened in the knees

I don’t know how you can
Be so wonderful
And of this world
I don’t how
I cannot love you
As perfect as you are

You might be the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen
Strong, gentle and kind
You might be the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen
Body, soul and mind

I would follow you
To the ends of the earth if you would lead
I would come to you
In the dark of any night
If you should need

I would give up all eternity
For a moment in your arms
I don’t know how I can
Quench my desire
As perfect as you are

You might be the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen
Strong, gentle and kind
You might be the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen
Body, soul and mind

Leaving Stepford

Written By: Stephanie Carpenter

Leaving Stepford
Steve Connelly, electric and bass guitar
Bryan Thompson, drums

Got a pretty blue suitcase
With a vintage vibe
Circa 1967 but I feel barely alive
They say I’ve got pretty green eyes
But I’m just feelin pretty blue
Since today is the day that I’m leaving you

I’m leaving you and I’m leaving me
I’m leaving behind the way I used to be
Because none of my friends
They don’t recognize me
Because your evil lovin’s hypnotized me

Well I’m leaving here
I think it’s high time that I’m on my own
I’m leaving here
And I’m never gonna find my way back home
I’m leaving here
And there’s nothing you can do or say to make it right
So I’m leaving Stepford tonight

I got a little bit fat
From all those cookies that I baked
I got a little bit tired
From all those smiles that I faked
Now I’ve been deprogrammed
I’ve broken your microchips bad code
This is your not so fond farewell
And that’s all she wrote

Well I’m leaving here
I think it’s high time that I’m on my own
I’m leaving here
And I’m never gonna find my way back home
I’m leaving here
And there’s nothing you can do or say to make it right
So I’m leaving Stepford tonight

Ghost

Written By: Stephanie Carpenter

Ghost
Ronny Elliott, back up vocals
Steve Connelly, pedal steel and bass

I’m a ghost
But you know that I am here
You can feel my steely ice cold gaze
But you’re too intrigued to fear
But you know I’m just a ghost

I’m a ghost
And I watch your every move
Do you like that I can whisper in your ear
As I hover over you
But you know I’m just a ghost

You’re a ghost
And youl haunt my every dream, every night
You’re a ghost and you touch me
Way down deep inside
You’re a ghost, and I’ll see you
In the pale moonlight
But I know you’re just a ghost

I’m a ghost
I’m that shiver on your skin
Sometimes you don’t where you end
Or quite where I begin
But you know I’m just a ghost

I’m a ghost
And I’ll haunt the air you breathe
You’ll feel my sullen, deep, dark despair
And I don’t intend to leave
But you know I’m just a ghost

You’re a ghost
And you haunt my every dream, every night
You’re a ghost and you touch me
Way down deep inside
You’re a ghost, and I’ll see you
In the pale moonlight
But I know you’re just a ghost

Though we’ve said goodbye
Those hooks are still in me
You were like a poison to my soul
But that poison was so sweet
Your archaic chaos has brought me to my knees

I’m a ghost
I didn’t mean to bleed you dry
It ‘s that life sucking vampiress in me
And you were happy to oblige
But you know I’m just a ghost

I’m a ghost
I’m that voice inside your head
I’m in lurid, lusting, lifeless pursuit
With a passion for the dead
But you know I’m just a ghost

You’re a ghost
And you haunt my every dream, every night
You’re a ghost and you touch me
Way down deep inside
You’re a ghost, and I’ll see you
In the pale moonlight
But I know you’re just a ghost
Just a ghost
You’re just a ghost

Full Press Kind of Girl

Written By: Stephanie Carpenter

Full Press Kind Of Girl
John McEwen, Bouzouki and back up vocals;
Judy Tampa, back up vocals
Bryan Thompson, Drums
Steve Connelly, Bass guitar

I’m getting bored with this luke warm love
There’s a passion and a fire a burning desire
I need someone I can think of
Who shows some depth and substance I can ardently admire
I used to think it was you
I used to think it was you

Now I’m not much for playing the field
When I’m clear what I want I like to go and get it
But sometimes we don’t see what’s real
And we move too fast just to live to regret it
We get cloudy and gray
We become cloudy and gray

But I’m in it for the long haul
If I have to be it
I’m damn well gonna win it
Or I won’t be in at all
If you’re here you better have no fear to be committed
I’m a full press kind of girl
Yes I’m a full press kind of girl

Don’t care much for narcissists
They like to keep you waiting
And anticipating
When will it be their next tryst?
Their conceit and arrogance is
Far too vexing
Well they don’t make my list
They don’t make my list

Don’t care much for head games
They are far too confusing and too time consuming
I think basically we’re all the same
We love our sisters and brothers
But some hurt more than others
They get dark and disturbed
They become dark and disturbed

Cause I’m in it for the long haul
If I have to be it
I’m damn well gonna win it
Or I won’t be in at all
If you’re here you better have no fear to be committed
I’m a full press kind of girl
Yes I’m a full press kind of girl

Now do you have a sociopathic gene?
Cause clearly something’s wrong
You can hardly get along
Why else would you be so damn mean
Seems to me, you’ve had a fairly good life, what
the hell’s wrong with you?
What the hell is wrong with you?

I have to ask myself now, who are you
By comparison you pale
And this time has gotten stale
I might be ready for something new
But I don’t want to waste all the time I’ve invested
I gave so much of my time
You took so much of my life

Cause I was in it for the long haul
If I had to be in it
Well I wanted to win it
Or I wouldn’t have been in it at all
When I got here well I had no fear to be committed
I’m a full press kind of girl
I’m a full press kind of girl
