Lyrics

Wings of the Phoenix

Written By: Stephanie Jospa

I’m sittin' at this window where I stare
Out at this desert Sun’s harsh glare
Mother, the well here’s gone dry
I got no tears left to cry
You blame me for walking away
It would cost me my sanity to stay
I don’t expect you’ll ever understand
In your world there is no other hand

Nothing I could do would ever be enough for you
I always thought your broken heart was mine to fix
It’s all coming clear, there’s only one way out of here
Riding on the wings of the Phoenix, riding on the wings of the Phoenix

You would bend me until I break
I give and I give, you take and take
You’ve taught me how not to be
Your prison walls have set me free
You have held my love hostage
Now you have forfeited your
privilege
You’d cut me to the core with that same dull knife
Should I have to repay you with my life?

Nothing I could do would ever be enough for you
I always thought your broken heart was mine to fix
It’s all coming clear, there’s only one way out of here
Riding on the wings of the Phoenix, riding on the wings of the Phoenix

Out of the ashes of distant cries
Out of the flames the Phoenix flies

It’s all coming clear, there’s only one way out of here
Riding on the wings of the Phoenix, riding on the wings of the Phoenix
Oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh, the Phoenix, Phoenix

I'm Still Here

Written By: Stephanie Jospa and Kregg Barentine

I'm Still Here (please note, this song was written specifically as the theme song for the documentary film Commit To The Line -- song on the trailer at www.committotheline.com

Takin' on the mountain, riding the A-line
Hear a voice shoutin' "climb climb climb!"
Switchback single track following through
Do you choose the path or does the path choose you

Riding with the reaper is a dangerous game
Where the winner or the loser could be one and the same

But I'm still here
Back from the vertical drop of my fear
If following dreams means pushing life to extremes
I'm going all in while I'M STILL HERE

I was filled with self-doubt when you came around
Never again you can't hold me down
Cause I'm no damsel in distress and I'm not afraid
To face the world head on and I won't be swayed

Riding with the reaper is a dangerous game
Where the winner or the loser could be one and the same

But I'm still here
Back from the vertical drop of my fear
If following dreams means pushing life to extremes
I'm going all in while I'M STILL HERE

Grippin' tight through the mud through the rain
On the ride of my life tearin' up the terrain
With each revolution reachin new heights
Living on the edge while I'm fighting the fight

Cause I'm still here
Back from the vertical drop of my fear
If following dreams means pushing life to extremes
I'm going all in while...
I'm still here
Back from the vertical drop of my fear
If following dreams means pushing life to extremes
I'm going all in while I'M STILL HERE

Water Under The Bridge

Written By: Stephanie Jospa and Kregg Barentine

I wasn't ready for you to mean so much to me
I was too new to love to love
Now your memory fades except where you dwell in my dreams
Where I'm capsized by guilt over an apology never breathed...

In the water under the bridge
Where regrets are caught in the undertow
There's a happy ending we'll never know
In the water under the bridge
Here in the water under the bridge

U-hauls and concert halls
I've done my share of leaving
What good is good-bye when I said nothing at all
Just a note on a napkin and a promise to call

Now it's water under the bridge
Where regrets are caught in the undertow
There's a happy ending we'll never know
In the water under the bridge
Here in the water under...

Baptized by tears confirmed by the years all the same life will go on and on...

In the water under the bridge
Where regrets are caught in the undertow
There's a happy ending we'll never know
In the water under the bridge
Here in the water under the bridge

Shed My Skin

Written By: Stephanie Jospa

From the shadows between the cracks I fell through
I watched others take the stage like they're the chosen few
From those shadows I saw silhouettes of who I'm meant to be
I started asking why, why not me

Some think I'm lost but I'm not looking to be found
Cuz' everytime I fall I break new ground
I won't be silent no I won't be afraid
I got my self-respect I don't let myself get played

I got no need to knock I let myself right in
I held back long enough now I crack myself wide open
I'm real and I'm raw, yeah I've shed my skin
You'll get all that I got cuz' I shed my skin, oh I shed my skin

When you look what you'll see is just a snapshot of me
A page in a book not the whole story
I'm not who I was not yet who I will be
But if someone's gonna be singing here I say it's got to be me

I got no need to knock... (chorus repeat x2)

Fly Away

Written By: Stephanie Jospa and Kregg Barentine

With eyes half closed she takes in the world
Born of a six-string inlaid mother of pearl
Solice in the spotlight forgets where she's been
Where streaks of red and blue bled under her skin
Shielding her heart all's forgotten not forgone
She blends her true colors and paints life into a song

She's takin' a ride on helium balloons
Psychedelic driftin' on delirium tunes
Miles and miles she miles high
All she wants to do is fly, fly, fly away

Deep down she's got rhythm dancing bone marrow
A fallen angel who flies on borrowed wings of a sparrow
She wears a cross that hangs down to her cleavage
And tries to use both to get a little leverage
Sending out her song it comes back like an echo
Even when she's lost she knows just where to go...

She's takin' a ride on helium balloons
Psychedelic driftin' on delirium tunes
Mile and miles she's miles high
All she wants to do is fly fly fly away

Fame did her up undid her just the same
Gave her dizzy spells playing that crazy game
Spared her nothin' when there was nothin' left to spare
She's on a free-fall, free-fall from her castle in the air
Doesn't want to be just another tragedy
Throws her hands up to God, lookin' for amnesty...

She's takin' a ride...
