"My Texas Music Review"

It’s an up-hill climb to impress me these days. Most of you know that I’m typically more critical of female vocalists. Now that I’ve (as of this writing) reviewed about a hundred female singers, I tend to be even more critical. Therefore, you can understand that it is rare that I hear a voice that I simply rave about. Today, I’ll rave. I first heard her perform live in June 2004, and now you can own the CD which captures her talents in hi-fidelity. Simply put, Stephani Fine has absolutely perfect command of her voice and it is a finely tuned instrument. The disc “FINE LINES” offers ten self-penned cuts from this Dallas area performer. The songs are the softer side of Stephani Fine as she meanders flawlessly through her lyric-based releases. The songs are well-written and structured, with a minimum of extra instrumentation as this folk-laden release is mostly an acoustic project. Fine’s voice, which I must mention again, is crystal clear, true, and wonderfully blended with tasteful harmonies. When performing with The Stephani Fine Band, things get kicked up a notch, as Fine takes her show to a more upbeat level. This album is not fancy, not flashy, but bears not a single flaw. Give a listen, and you’ll agree. - Jinelle Boyd

The Woman

With a voice that is instantly familiar yet distinctly her own, Stephani Fine is a brilliantly gifted vocalist that is smooth as liquid velvet yet powerful, with a touch of native Texas grit. A mature singer/songwriter, her tunes invite the listener on a journey that reaches into the depths of one’s soul, coaxing hope and emotion from within. Influenced by artists such as Lucinda Williams, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt and Sarah McLaughlin, Stephani has played venues from Michigan to the southern most reaches of Texas, including the Hiawatha Folk Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival (staff concert), the famed Bluebird Café and many more. No stranger to the stage, Stephani spent years performing as a solo artist and released the beautifully crafted cd “Fine Lines” to capture that essence. Currently featuring a band of some of the Dallas areas finest musicians, Stephani Fine is taking her sound and her audience to the next level with her unique blend of graceful energy and powerful emotion.
