Bio

STEPHCYNIE CURRY

The buzz is humming about Stephcynie Curry's RELEASE. Her rich, haunting, soulful ballads and upbeat dance tunes are sure to shake the industry loose. The project is set to debut early summer 2008 and is destined to become the shining star on a vast horizon. Stephcynie Curry is trained, talented, and serious about her craft. With sheer musical harmony and old-school charm, talk of her live performances is buzzing.

She delivers on this project by belting out savvy, soulful sounds rarely duplicated by someone of her generation. Her voice is crisp, clear, rich, and uniquely her own. She is a writer, arranger, and vocalist who values real words with good music. She has painstakingly studied and paid her dues to ensure that she moves in harmony with her destiny.

Inspired by the best to become even better, she admires industry barrier breakers like Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, Patti Labelle, Michael Jackson, and hometown favorite, Yolanda Adams. She also aspires for the business acumen of Prince, Quincy Jones, Clive Davis, Susan de Pass, and Jay Z.

As early as age three, she was dubbed "the humming bird," singing constantly and captivated by the music video phenomenon. She has participated in a variety of events, including Houston Grand Opera's High School Voice Studio, beating out thousands in the Houston Metropolitan Area for the opportunity. She is a staple and consistent live performer on the East Coast.

Stephcynie Curry is a graduate of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (NYC), also home to the famed Parsons School of Design and The School for Acting (formally know as The Actor's Studio). While there, she became the first vocalist to receive the Beacon Jazz Scholar Award. The ceremonies were held at the Pierre Hotel and hosted by Bill Cosby. Her highlight was performing along side Al Jarraeu and receiving her award with "60 Minutes journalist, the late Ed Bradley.

Stephcynie Curry attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA), which boasts a host of famous Alumnae and Grammy Award Winning Artists, including Beyonce Knowles and the legendary Laws family. She has opened for Rene Marie at Town Hall, Franklin Bridge Band-- recent competitors on Fox's "Next Great American Band," and has lent vocal support to Hidden Beach neo-soul recording artist, Lina.

Stephcynie interned with Verve Records and Sony/BMG, Verity Records, which led to work in the urban promotions department at Jive Records. That internship turned into an opportunity to assist Tina Davis and Andre Thorpe in organizing the first leg of the Chris Brown X-box Tour.

In her own rite, she is building a solid fan base in NYC, Philly, and Washington, DC. On her soon to be released project (Summer 2008), world-class musicians serve as the backdrop for her vocals. The buzz is sweltering hot about soon to be released singles, "Struggle" and "So Deep In Love. In tune with herself and her destiny, this Southern Songbird's time has come!
