Bio
Stephen Lay holds a few degrees in music and has been thereby influenced by several styles not least of which are the big three: classical, jazz and pop (but not necessarily in that order). Having studied classical piano since a child, having a father who is a jazz trumpeter and listening to pop music on the radio puts together a somewhat eclectic mix of influences.
But what really brings Stephen to this current place in his musical career has GOT to be the work of the Holy Spirit. Without going into great detail, suffice to say that if not for certain events taking place and the cultivation of specific relationships along the way, he would not be where he is today.
Stephen's music is primarily lyric driven placing great emphasis on expressions, comprehension, dynamics and style rather than simply a wall of overbearing sound. While still retaining a driving beat and an electric sound, great care is taken to produce something tasteful and musical.
