Bio

Stephen McCulloch - Singer/Songwriter, Guitar, Piano, Harmonica and percussion.

Stephen was born in1975 and raised in the beautiful country area of Gippsland in Victoria, Australia.

As a child he studied piano and was inspired by his father’s country record collection. At fifteen he began playing acoustic guitar and harmonica, exploring composition and blues and roots music.

Stephen has performed solo at Woodford, Dandenong Ranges, Boolarra, Maldon and The National Folk festivals. Stephen launched his first EP 'Wheel of life' in 2006 performing 'Wheel of life' and 'Gondwanaland' as key songs for "Songs to Change the world by" at Woodford folk festival.
'Inside Out' his second EP (2008) was played by community radio stations throughout Australia and features Stephen on piano, acoustic and electric guitars.

Influences include; Cat Stephens, Neil young, Ben Harper, Van Morrison, Paul Simon, John Butler and Crowded House.

Now in the final stages of completing his first album, 'Good Things Take Time', he is working with some very fine musicians, including Hamish Davidson on violin.

Stephen’s songs utilize a broad vocal range and his guitar playing includes an energetic percussive finger style. Recent compositions such as ‘Angel’, ‘Jessie Take the Wheel’ ‘Bigger than Life’ and ‘Something Sacred’ have a distinct country flavour that also includes harmonica. A dynamic and natural performer, Stephen enjoys sharing his warmth and humor with his audience.
