On August 11th 1989, Stephen Michael was born in New York. He has not looked back since. Stephen began singing and even writing his own songs at the age of 4, however it wasnt until his 5th birthday that his family began to realize that they had something truly special on their hands. He surprised his family and friends by learning and performing Michael Jacksons Thriller choreography on his own and perfecting it to a T. At the age of 12, Stephen joined a R&B/POP group with 3 other boys. (One who turned out to be Donnie Klang from MTVs Making The Band). He stayed in this group for 8 years, even being managed by Beyonce Knowles father (Matthew Knowles) for a short period of time. After 8 years of struggling, tons of broken promises, and coming close to numerous record deals his group finally broke up. What seemed at the time as one of the worst days in Stephens life, wound up being a blessing in disguise. He has since gone on to open up for artists such as Akon and Kool and the Gang. He also landed his first official writing placement (My Girl Got A Girlfriend Feat. Mams Taylor, Snoop Dog, and Bobby Valentino) which has received nation wide radio play. Stephen has also written on songs featuring artists such as: T-Pain, Joel Madden (Good Charlotte), Mario Winans, Yung Joc, Donnie Klang, Billy Idol, Robbie Williams, Scott Storch, and Ya Boy.
In an attempt to hone his writing skills, Stephen took one of the biggest steps of his life, and moved away from his New York roots spending 2 years alone writing song after song in Florida, building up a catalog of hundreds of songs.
Stephens style is unique in its own right, as he not only raps, be he sings as well on some of his songs. Stephen writes ALL of his material himself, and even does a little co-producing. His catchy melodys, unique lyrics, and moving beats make it hard for anyone dislike his music. His fresh sound is exactly what the industry needs and Stephen Michael is destined for superstardom. He has been called by many industry professionals The Next Big Thing.
