Bio

Redhead is an emcee from northwest Washington DC, raised in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Born with a Carribean background from Jamaica & Grenada, he has been rhyming for a few years as a hobby until mid-2002 when he started to take hiphop more seriously due to an occurrence with an A&R from the now-defunct MCA Records. With his unique style, voice, and versatile flow, Redhead's main objective is to hold the audience's attention with an underground rap style with a little mainstream twist in the mix. He's appeared in many open mic spots in the DC area, particularly the "Euphoria" spot with his associates known as the group Hands High. He has appeared on BET on a "Campus Invasion Tour" segment, performed on a local television show in Prince Georges' County MD about emcees breaking into the industry, and has been on stage in front of Howard University's roughly 11,000+ student population at a show featuring acts such as Capone-N-Noreaga and Whyte Out from 106 & Park. He later graduated from the university with a Bachelors degree in Political Science and blessings from talk show host Oprah Winfrey.
Redhead was also on a mixtape that featured 50 Cent, Joe Budden, Freeway, and Royce Da 5'9 among others. He has also hooked up with R&B singer Mya on July 25th, 2003, on an interview made for The Washington Post Magazine. On August 29th, 2003, he competed on the Friday Night Mic Fight battles that were broadcasted on WPGC 95.5FM, which was heard all over Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. He's also battled on WKYS 93.9FM. Around the beginning of his sophomore year at college, he joined the DC regional Verbal Armageddon competition and was ranked in the top 10 best MCs out of 50+ competitors. This competition had underground artist ICON The Mic King as a past champion. Even though Redhead lost, he gained a big following on the campus and was respected as a true talent. He later returned to the competition in 2007 and became a finalist after undergoing several bizarre challenges such as freestyling about a light bulb, among other topics.
At the age of 20, Redhead completed work on his first independently released EP, "It Is What It Is". One of its tracks, entitled "4 Da Broke & Sexy", was also featured on a mixtape called "The Next Big Thing" and was distributed in the area of Atlanta and Texas. Magnificent of Swisha House Entertainment calls Redhead "one of the flyest lyricists I've met, and he's going to be big one day, for sure!" On March 3rd, 2005, Redhead traveled to Baltimore, MD to open for Masta Ace (old school hip-hop member of the legendary Juice Crew; famous for appearing on "The Symphony" with Marley Marl), Wordsworth (former host of MTV's Lyricist Lounge Show), and Freestyle (of the group The Arsonists) to celebrate the release of the "Revolutions Of The Mind Mixtape Vol. 1: See No Evil", which was put together by Third I Revolutions.

On January 13th, 2006, Redhead simultaneously released his first mixtape "Modern Nostalgia Vol. 1" to the streets of the DC Metropolitan area and parts of Canada. Distributed by independent label Criminal Records, the project featured tracks from himself, his fellow colleagues, and mainstream artists from all over. The mixtape incorporated the sound of old-school hiphop with the styles and personalities of the new generation of artists, and was critically acclaimed. On January 26th, 2007, Redhead made history from being the first unsigned American hiphop artist to get his record ("I Like") radio play in Australia during its national holiday. As of April 11th, 2007, Redhead played the role of Richard Hawkins (of the past) in the Internet episodes of the CBS series "Jericho" for 5 episodes. Currently, he has linked up with producer Versityle of Songbook Entertainment (Trey Songz's production company) for an upcoming, yet untitled project.
Look out for this emcee in the near future as he continues his road to success.
