"Triple J Unearthed"

This drew me right in. I couldn't stop listening. - Claire Mooney

"Triple J Unearthed"

The kind of song that ought to soundtrack some cosmic traveller's sand-logged spirit quest. - Dave Ruby Howe

"Live in Limbo"

Pouring It Out is a duet written by Steve Tyssen and features Jess Lean of The Brains Trust on vocals.

“Jess is an old friend of mine so it was a no brainer asking her to sing on the track – and we had so many laughs recording it too! The song is basically about reaching the breaking point in a bad relationship or situation” -Steve Tyssen

“The clip offers a notion that relationships sometimes manifest the individuals into playing a certain characters, keeping a certain idea of each other over time. A materialized society has forced an insecure hand over people, where our identity is categorized into a box or stereotype. In world under constant surveillance and judgment, the characters in the clip are a heightened version of themselves, a creation by fear and expectation.

The collaboration was an open canvas from the beginning with Steve Tyssen, who’s positive energy open mind allowed for creative ideas to be voiced. Our producer, Grace Julia banded together a small team of creatives and sourced an old abandoned warehouse in Brisbane as a location. Corey Donaldson provided the unique visuals and Jess Moxon searched far and wide around Brisbane sourcing props. The clip provided a subtle message to stop and smell the flowers every once and a while.” -Writer and director Bradley Murnane from Spilting Films - Dakota Arsenault

Bio

Steve Tyssen (originally from Brisbane, Australia) is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, record producer and member of Melbourne bands Muck and Deathbeat.

Tyssen's love of songwriting has seen him independently release an EP and six solo albums on which he plays and records all the instruments himself in his home studio. His unique brand of lofi indie/rock has been described as a mixture of Elliott Smith, Fleet Foxes, Tame Impala and Gorillaz.

Debut EP All That You Want Is Everything (October 2013) was shortly followed by debut album Friends and Other Enemies (July 2015). Sophomore Love to Love was released in 2016, featuring Without a Bottle, included on Spotify's Infinite Indie Folk.

Tyssen relocated to Melbourne in 2017, and his third solo album Invitations was released shortly after (October 2017). Tyssen then wrote 10 songs in 10 days during his visit to Portland and Seattle in Jan 2018. This fourth album You're Gonna Feel It in the Winter (May 11th) was produced by Julian Schweitzer (Greenthief/Deathbeat).

Hot Milk Sleep (Sep 2018) is Tyssen's fifth album and is a more lo-fi / loop based approach, heavily influenced by Hypnagogic Pop artists like John Maus. Come Home (Jan 2019) was written and recorded in just four days in Brisbane in Dec 2018 and sees Tyssen return to his raw acoustic sound which is more akin to the live shows he's been playing around Melbourne in the couple of years.
