Steve Bernal

Steve Bernal has been playing guitar a performing for 25 years as a side job/hobby. Influenced at a very early age by Johnny Cash, he has grown up with a wide variety of musical influences. His first paying gig was in 1986 at Los Hermanos bar in San Luis Obispo during what was known then as Poly Royal. With 10 songs and four chords he entertained a packed bar and was infected with this solo acoustic entertaining ever since.
With a wide variety of repertoire from Johnny Cash, the Eagles, Jimmy Buffett, Jackson Browne and on and on, he plays his acoustic version of a lot of forgotten yet familiar songs. Ballads, rock & roll, some humor and some great stories done acoustically.
In December 2009, Steve�s first album titled, Out Of My Shell will be released as an independent artist. This album marks the transition from cover song performer to writer. Nine songs on the album are cover songs from artist�s and writers who have influenced Steve. Three songs on the album were written by Steve himself. An original, �Abalone At Heart� was written as a joke and he performed it at a Christmas party. The song was a hit with everyone who heard it. Without even realizing it, he wrote a song that was about him in many ways so it had to be on album. In fact it turned out to be the theme of the album. He has come out of his shell as a writer and ready to see where the current takes him.
When Steve performs you can expect to hear new songs he has written mixed in with obscure yet familiar cover songs. Expect to hear at least a couple of Parrot head favorites along with some Eagles and anything that might have been a 70�s or 80�s favorite.
In 2010 Steve will be booking shows as a trio which is all acoustic. He also scales down his performance to just a solo act for the smaller venues or just for the cost conscience venues. Either way, Steve delivers a top notch acoustic performance
