Bio
A South Philly boy at heart, Steve DeStefano has since migrated to the suburban life and loves to write and sing about it. Steve has been
playing guitar since his early teens and has been writing just as long.
Many of his songs are from different periods during his career in music, but it’s hard to tell when. Sometimes autobiographical, sometimes just
fictitious in character, Steve’s music is always melodic, catchy and just plain fun. The song Ya-Ya for example was inspired by the echo-ey reverberations of of two friends yelling at each other across an empty row-house-lined block, which he did many times during the early mornings of his youth.
As a teen, Steve played lead guitar in the top 40 and the rock bands that were popular during that time period. He did a brief (very brief) stint in the disco scene that was popularized by the Saturday Night Fever craze of the 70’s. He has been also involved as a bassist in the Christian rock scene and is known for his flamboyant, charismatic stage
presence.
Steve's eclectic debut CD, Rat Race, was released in April of 2007. His next full release, Style, is near completion and should be available by the third quarter of 2008, although many of his upcoming recordings are available currently for listening through his website, www.stevedestefano.com.
