Bio

After many successful years as the driving heartbeat of the highly successful Australian country vocal trio, Sovereign, Steve Eales, has taken a step in a completely new direction for his solo career - His debut album "The Battler" picked up 2008 Peoples Choice Album of the Year in Tamworth.

Affectionately known in country music circles as Ealesy – he grew up surrounded by sheep stations in South Australia. Following a move to the high country of Victoria as a teenager, Ealesy developed a strong love of horse riding in the mountains. This coupled with his love of music
saw a natural progression into country music. He was inspired by real life experiences and the beauty of the country which was outside his window.

As a member of Sovereign, Ealesy has become one of the most loved voices in Australian country music – resulting in being named 2004 Male Vocalist of The Year at the Victorian and National Country Music Awards. His weather beaten honey vocal is instantly recognizable and one that showcases diversity and power.

For the next chapter of his career, Ealesy has decided to release a collection of songs which show a whole new side to his music. The first single is the infectious and fun “Girls on Horses”, produced by the legendary Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool/Mondo Rock), and engineered by Reggie Bowman (Southern Sons). The track is a rockin’ tale of blokes checkin’ out the female riders
at the local rodeo.

“There’s a definite poetry in motion thing going on when a well matched girl and her horse
race by. Barrel racing has always been a favorite of mine at the rodeos, they’re
so aggressive and graceful all at the same time”, says Ealesy. “There was an incident
at a rodeo a few years back, where some mates and I were chased off the arena rail
by an over zealous rodeo clown, we knew better of course but this guy was so serious
we couldn’t help but laugh. I hope this track epitomizes the fun and spirit of our
rodeo girls and the whole rodeo scene.”

A video clip for “Girls on Horses” which features a killer dance remix of the song has
already been screened on the popular new television program, “Cruisin’ The Country”
and has also hit other country video shows such as CMC.

Steve Eales is the new face and sound of Australian country rock for 2008!
