"Steve Law Band"

“We felt it was about time we showed Steve Law Band some love. They dropped a self-titled six song EP last year, and the record is a melodic folk rock masterpiece. With male and female harmonies, the music is attention-catching right from the opening track “On The Run.” It’s not often that folk-rock seems appropriate for a slow dance, but this album makes it happen. This cd made it up our stack and caught our attention because of the passionate vocals and harmonies. Topped off with reverb-eddled guitar solos and overall solid instrumentation, this record is the perfect fit for romance.”
- Tim Wenger, Colorado Music Buzz Magazine (Mar 01, 2014) - Colorado Music Buzz Magazine

"Steve Law Band"

After releasing a five-song EP, Balance, in 2011 and a live album last year with Kyle Zender, Steve Law returns with a self-titled release that doesn't stray too far from the acoustic-guitar-driven folk rock of the EP. While Law sounds like he's influenced by the likes of James Taylor and Paul Simon, his vocal delivery at times recalls that of Rufus Wainwright, especially on the opening cut, "On the Run." The cozy, stripped-down tracks here suit his relaxed vocal style, as do the harmonies by Toddy Walters. Law no doubt has a knack for writing catchy tunes, such as the radio-friendly "Other Side of Your Heart" and "Telluride," which features some gorgeous pedal-steel work from John Macy. - Westword

Bio

We've just finished our new CD "Old Oak Tree". It is set for a September 2014 release. It is seven unique and different songs that highlight the the talents of each band member.

Steve Law Band "Old Oak Tree" is light, crisp and clean. It is impossible not to tap your foot or feel some warmth when you listen.

I've had all this music stored up in me for a lot of years. It's now bursting out. It's mostly what I can create with a guitar and my voice. Going into the studio and playing with all kinds of unbelievable musicians is like laying down the best paint on a new canvas. Working with the the audio painting is the opportunity to create in the world what I am hearing in my head.
I started out learning guitar and cello in elementary and middle school. By the time I got to high school I dropped the cello. That was a seriously foolish mistake. I can't think of a richer, fuller more beautiful sound than that of a cello! I look back with such regret that I let that go.
The guitar was a bit easier to carry around so I stuck with that. I've been learning how to play it better my whole life.
Our EP "Balance" was release in October of 2011.
The excitement of playing live is a thrill beyond belief. Connecting with the audience is always so much fun. When I can touch them either lyrically or musically it starts an adventure that we all share together. Whether it is 20 people or 1,000s I always give it everything I've got.
My influences are too many to mention. It is the full range from classical to heavy metal.
Tom Petty, The Beatles, Michael Hedges, Leo Kottke...
Primarily guitar driven music.
I play with a bassist/guitarist/singer/engineer named Kyle Zender,Toddy Ivy whose amazing voice and percussion fill out the sound beautifully. Hill Baker joined on the drum kit and cajon.
We have worked up over 30 of our own original songs and a hand full of covers.
We can play a short opening set to between 2 and 3 hours.
Our new EP "Steve Law Band" was released Feb. 22, 2013.
