Biography

Using the transformative nature of music is what gets Steve out of bed each day, (and sometimes in the middle of the night). Writing Custom Compositions (www.CustomComposer.com), along with performing at great listening venues is what gives him wonderful, connecting and inspiring musical energy.

People say Steve reminds them of a mix of James Taylor, John Denver and even Cat Stevens, (All three are favorites of his.)

Other musical hero's? Shawn Colvin, the Beatles, Kenny Rankin, Carol King, Bare Naked Ladies, Willy Porter to name just a few.

Proud Music Moments? Involvement with the Make-a-Wish Foundation through playing a number of their events; writing the theme song for the Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation, one for Art with Heart and an American Cancer Society "Relay for Life". In addition, writing a number of Custom Compositions for people that seem to have touched their lives has been inspiring, e.g. Babe and Angel, Wash Over You, The Smile in You and many more.

Steve's History? Raised all over; California, Connecticutt, Kentucky and Washington state. First guitar at age of eight, (He thought he'd won the eight year old's lottery!) First song was Steve's Tune - on the violin - played with 200 piece orchestra at an assembly when he about 10, (His musical addiction began). Steve co-founded the Seattle band "The Hooters"; they played for nearly 20 years with the same 5 guys in addition to some great horn players.

Wash over You

Wash Over You
©2007 by Steve Mason – www.SteveMasonMusic.com

Verse 1
I wish you Peace and Truth and all the strength you need
With sweet memories of today
I’ve dreamt of hope and love where the land meets the sea
Washing over you like a wave

BRIDGE 1
I want to give you one gift on this special day; One gift throughout our lives
I've sent these thoughts across the universe;
To guide your pathway and share this dream… tonight

CHORUS
Wash over you like a wave
That cleans hidden beaches feel it rinse away your pain
Wash over you like a gentle wave
That leaves you in the sand with love so pure
Until you need to dream the waves again

Verse 2
I wish you Peace and Truth… all the courage that you need
Precious are the memories we create
I’ve dreamt of hope and love where the clouds go to seed
Pouring over you like the rain

BRIDGE 2
I get caught sometimes feeling helpless, we're always trying to say the right thing
But it’s a time for being selfless, to share a smile or a tear, and a reason to sing

CHORUS
Wash over you like the rain
Let the clouds gather quickly and feel it rinse away your pain
Wash over you like the sweetest warm rain
And leave you in the sun with love so pure,

Until you need to dream the rain again
Until you need to dream the waves again
Until you need to dream

Love is Here

Just to be here… in this beauty… all your smiles soak right into me…
Looking back… Ridin’ rails... Mountain Passes, and old world trails

Exotic lands, rising suns, to the top of the world… to find that love is here

Love is… ohh love is here

Far off places we… Felt at home and we… Tripped on languages... But love and music…
They seemed the only tongue…

Borders crossed, touching hearts, the connection it starts… it starts right here…
Exotic lands, rising suns, to the top of the world… to find that love is here

Love is here… love is here ohh, Love is, Love is… Love is here!

I could’ve been a tragic hero… Some valiant knight who paid too high a cost
But all those years living and re-living the past
There’s so much I might have lost

Just to be here… in this beauty… all your smiles soak… soak right through me…

Looking west… to the sun… The water has a reflection… it's gold in this space
See the awe… Moments bring… memories… when hearts sing…
Echo in this… echo in this place

Love is here… love is here ohh, Love is, Love is… Love is here!

The World has Changed

The World has Changed ©2001 by Steve Mason

Recently… So much sadness, Change is the constant, we all know
Here we meet at some lonesome crossroad,
What will we do… Someone tell me so

The world has changed; The world has changed
What will you do different? What will you do the same?

We stand up proud with all our might; Heroes all come into sight
I remember love when it was a passing thing
Worlds fell apart and only few would sing, but now…

The world has changed; The world has changed
What will you do different? What will you do the same?

Longer hugs and Looks into eyes
Sharing smiles Without ever asking why
Cities collapse, But not the spirit’
Heroes arise, Everyone’s in it

The world has changed, The world has changed

Some say it’s the world; To some us and them
It’s time to change; Before we reach the end
We travel miles Protecting our own
It’ll all be for naught W/o love in our homes

The world has changed; I said the world has changed
What will you do different? What will you do the same?

Longer hugs and Looks into eyes
Sharing smiles Without asking why
Cities collapse, But not the spirit’
Heroes arise, Everyone’s in it

The world has changed, The world has changed
The world has changed, The world has changed
What will you do different, what will you do?
What will you do different, what will you do?
What will you do different? What will you do the same?

Joy with a Smile

Joy with a Smile
© 2007 by Steve Mason

Tough little tomboy Ridin’ horses with her friends
Always playin’ wishin’ summer’d never end
When the ride got rough, she had a smile on her face
That smile the definition of her childhood days

Found herself a sailor In her tough teen years
Headed down to Cali without a single fear
In two weeks they were married so quickly it seemed
That smile the definition of their American Dream

They called her Joy, joy, joy; it’s no surprise
Smilin’ out from her pretty brown eyes
She crossed so many country miles…
From a cracker box shack to houses with style...
That’s Joy with a smile
Joy with a smile...
Joy with a smile

If it weren’t for dreams… There’d be no heartache
The sailor left the final time… And her body began to ache
Her smile was just a way to keep her illness at bay
Those who knew her closely said Joy was just that way

Joy with a smile...
Joy with a smile

A slowly failing body; Over seasons over years
So much dwindling; some anger and some tears
But she lifted those around her; A tough broad with style
You could never take the smile from joy or take the Joy from the smile

They called her Joy, joy, joy; it’s no surprise
Smilin’ out from her pretty brown eyes
She crossed so many country miles…
From a cracker box shack to houses with style...
That’s Joy with a smile
Joy with a smile...
Joy with a smile

She would’ve turned 70 just the other day
She would’ve smiled then cursed, cause that was Joy’s way
She couldn’t say much more, but that would’ve been enough
When you’ve got Joy and a smile, you’ve got a life of love

Joy with a smile...
Joy with a smile
Joy with a smile...
Joy with a smile

Tough little tomboy Ridin’ horses with her friends
Always playin’ wishin’ summer’d never end

Snow

SNOW

When it’s cold out… when it snows out
It’s coooool … to feel the winter’s touch

The ground is draped and I love to take in
The sounds as they’re muffled in a hush

I marvel and wonder how all the life under
Sleeps to rise a sunny day again

The white covers green and it’s like I’ve never seen it
Welcomed like an unexpected friend

Flakes floating falling and blowing
Weave their way without a sound
All is covered with a smooth coating
Set’s the table for a winter playground

Snow angels… Snow ball fights
Snowed in, that’s fine we’ve got the firelight
Wooly socks And winter gloves
They dry over the fireplace right above… where we…

…hold each other, under the covers
We’ll hold this memory in our hearts

Of a winter night’s dream, to last forever it seems
Until the skies cloud up and start again

Flakes floating falling and blowing
Weave their way without a sound
All is covered with a smooth coating
Set’s the table for a winter playground

When it snows out…
I just love it… when it snows out

“HERE NOW”

Here…Now
Here…Now

Let my words be your words and yours be mine
Celebrate our union in this special time Here…Now
Savoring the feeling, as we breathe into this space
In this perfect moment, in this perfect place Here…Now Here Now

World of Grace
Celebrate
Blessed Vow
HereNow

Let’s enjoy the miracle that brought us here somehow
Dissolving any obstacles from being present here and now Here…Now
Brush away the things that stand between ourselves and love,
Connecting with the oneness within and up above Here…Now Here Now

World of Grace
Celebrate
Blessed Vow
HereNow

Step into the selflessness our hearts allow
Taking in our timelessness with just a simple vow Here…Now Here Now

Love shines in your eyes and in the smile on your face
Walking here in beauty, in our day to day with grace

Here…Now
Here…Now
Here…Now
Here…Now

Renew

Written By: Steve Mason

Renew © 2008 by Steve Mason

Maybe it’s the time of the year…
We’ll celebrate a holiday and share some cheer
And wrestle resolutions come and gone
Or dream about some healing or imaginary dawns

There’s a sense of new hope all around
Maybe peace maybe somewhere in some war torn town
Where the birds return to the trees
And smoke no longer lingers in a brand new breeze

Let’s celebrate and renew
I’ll be your loving best friend while we review
And maybe that is all we need to do
Let’s celebrate and renew

Maybe it’s the cycle of the moon
Stirring up the tides on a stormy afternoon
Where our beaches stay so strong
We can take in all that beauty as the night comes on

Then we’ll walk down by the beach and renew
We’ll stare up at the stars and a distant moon
I think that is all we need to do
Walk so close together make 1 heart out of 2
Let’s walk by the beach and renew

Renew… it’ll just be me and you
Renew… and this day will do
This moment is a present it’ll only take a few
Let’s walk by the beach and renew

SOLO

Now this Here is the time of our lives
Now we can thrive or simply survive
But never throw it all away… instead
Let’s hang on to each other
Oh my friends

Let’s hang on tight and renew
We’ll glow from our souls in this perfect little room
And I think that is all we’ll need to do

Jus’ hang onto each other
Make 1 heart out o’ 2
Let’s hang on tight and renew

You can hang onto me
I’ll hang onto you
Let’s hang on tight and renew
