Bio

Originally from Chicago, Steven traveled south in 1982 and settled in the diverse musical community of Lafayette, LA. He's been a fixture on the scene ever since and has made strides as a singer-songwriter, recording artist and bandleader. Steeped in the blues, he took to the bayou sounds quickly and contributed songs to area artists who at the time were breaking nationally. Both country singer Sammy Kershaw and the Zydecajun icon, Wayne Toups, released songs, which Steven co-wrote. "Better Call A Preacher" was performed by Kershaw on the David Letterman Show and was included on the platinum certified CD, "Feelin' Good Train". He's since had regional cuts by Roddie Romero, Dustin Ray, Kim Brasso, Johnny Firmin & more.

In 2004 this novel tunesmith released his first solo CD that contained original material ranging from adult alternative to collective blues. An insatiable lyricist in search of a melody, today he readies another fresh batch of blues songs, featuring his guitar playing, which are to be recorded for a new CD which will consist of all original BLUES songs. He continues to work both as a solo performer, and as the leader of his blues trio and is always creating that next catchy phrase or melody, whether inner city blues or roots renaissance. The musical future for Cohen is endless and his story continues...
