My mother bought me a guitar when I was 7 years old. I fell in love with music and have been playing ever since. I began writing and tinkering with original lyrics and melody form about 20 years ago. I joined NSAI in 2013 and started submitting songs for review. I received some really great reviews and great advice. I write and rewite until my lyric phrases and melody match-up and the story I'm telling through song seems real to the listener. It's hard work but I love it. I try to work on

Same Old Song

Written By: Steven Ensley

Same Old Song

V1 Daddy worked hard to get his fill
Twenty-five years in a cotton mill
Mama stayed home all day long
Worked in the evening
To that same old song

(Chorus Instrumental)

V2 Never ask for much my sister and me
Pretty good kids my family would agree
Went to church, never did much wrong
All grown-up
Singing that same old song

(Chorus Instrumental)

(Bridge) Life is short, death is long
Always thinkin of my family at home

(Short Chorus Instrumental)

V3 I work hard to get my feel
A forty hour week in a bar and grill
My wife stays home all day long
She works in the evening
Sings that same old song

(Chorus Instrumental)
