Steve Rapson

Steve Rapson

BandEDM

With a solid ear for house music, Steve Rapson has tapped into all genres of dance from tech, tribal, progressive, and even euro. His strengths have grown to no only include music production, but also experience as a DJ in Toronto, London, and Hamilton.

Biography

Music has always been one of Steve's strengths. Playing many instruments as a youngster, starting with the piano, he quickly grew to love many different types of music. Inspired by musicals and superstars like Janet Jackson and Annemie Coenen (Ian Van Dahl / AnnaGrace) and other local DJs from Toronto, that turning point came when he chose to dive into an industry he knew was going to take a lot of time and work to make it.

After graduating from college at Trebas Institute for Recorded Music Production, Steve had written and produced many songs but only a few DJs would play them in clubs. DJ Patricia Star (NY) said she liked what she heard, and suggested he just start to DJ and play the songs himself. By June 2008 Steve bought his own set of CDJ-800s and a DVJ-400 mixer. In July, with the help of a close friend he got his first huge gig at CIRCA Toronto. Later that month he had landed the headlining spot for London Pride and secured his first residency at Seven Night Club (london). By the fall of 2008 Steve quickly secured his second and third residencies at The Werx / Frixion Night Club (hamilton) and The Hub (hamilton).

Only one year later, Rapson landed a spot opening Central Stage at Pride Toronto, Canada's biggest party weekend of the year. Playing for the first time his own remix: Sydney Blu VS Annagrace - Instinct / You Make Me Feel (Steve Rapson remix) that can not be purchased anywhere or played by anyone else (yet).

Depending on the crowd/location there may or may not be vocals. Steve tends to play current music and tries to stay ahead of what is played on the airwaves. You will often hear music Steve plays on the radio months later on the radio.
