Bio

Steve Urban is a Songwriter, Vocalist & Multi-Instrumentalist, (Guitar, Banjo, Harmonica, Mandolin & Ukulele) who performs a blend of Art Rock, Country, Folk, Blues, Reggae and Funk he calls, "Paint Rock." For the past 7 years hes been a central figure in NYC's live music scene, both on and off the stage, working with some of the Nations top bands, venues, and music festivals. Hes most well-known among the Jamband scene working as a concert promoter for, Peter Shapiro, owner of Brooklyn Bowl, The Capitol Theater, Lockn Music Festival, and  formerly of, Wetlands Preserve.

In July of 2013, Urban sent Shapiro, a studio version of his original song about the legendary NYC nightclub, simply titled "The Wetlands." Shapiro responded saying, Everyone needs to hear this, leaking the track on Relix.com and Jambands.com!   Urbans song The  Wetlands went on to win Grand Prize in the Relix JamOFF Contest and was featured on the CD Sampler within the December 2013 edition of Relixs Music Magazine!

Urbans band features Greg Koerner on Bass & Vocals from Gent Treadly. Urban met Greg through a mutual friend, Dave Nolan, who was probably one of the most important supporters of his original music. Dave Nolan was the DJ for Wetlands Preserve, and hosted his own Radio Program called Morning Dew on WBAI 99.5 FM in New York, NY. Nolan, who recorded and archived every performance at Wetlands Preserve, is credited as being the first person to ever play Dave Matthews Band, Blues Traveler and Spin Doctors on the radio. He also helped introduce jambands like moe. and Govt Mules guitarist, Warren Haynes, onto the scene, who went on to join the Allman Brothers Band and The Dead.

Urban asked Nolan to DJ his event and thats where he became of fan of Urbans original music too! Unfortunately, when Dave Nolan unexpectedly passed away, in 2010, a Benefit Concert called A Night for  Dave Nolan was held at Brooklyn Bowl, Urban performed, The Wetlands song. Urban also performed his song Brooklyn Bowl at A Night for Dave Nolan II and again with Greg Koerners band Gent Treadly at Brooklyn Bowl in 2011 & 2012, respectively.

In April of 2014, Urban joined forces with Brooklyn, NY based guitarist, Scott Metzger. Metzger regularly performs with drummer Joe Russo in Bustle in Your Hedgerow, Almost Dead, and at the opening for Brooklyn Bowl London. Scotts also performed, toured, and or recorded with Joss Stone, WEEN,  Soulive, ?uestlove, Warren Haynes and Gov't Mule, Joe Satriani, Marco Benevento, The Stanton Moore trio, Particle, and many others. Shortly after linking up with Scott, he also recruited the incredible keyboard and violin skills of Jason Crosby (Eric Clapton, Santana, Dave Matthews Band, Robert Randolph & the Family Band) for his upcoming EP.
