Bio

Steve Wik and Soul Funk is a four piece rock/funk band, playing mostly original music that combines elements of funk, rock, jazz, and reggae, and hip-hop. The band is building a large young following. Live shows have been called "massively entertaining," "quite possibly the next big thing," and perhaps most importantly, "fun and danceable." The band is currently finishing their first CD and is looking forward to a national release this Summer. A truly unique and inspired artist, Steve Wik has tirelessly toured across the United States playing for millions as a headlining act as well as opening for amazing international superstars:
George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, Nelly, Black Eyed Peas, Jurassic 5, Chingy, Ja Rule, Charley Baltimore, Earth Wind and Fire, The Ohio Players, Tony Spinner (Toto), Nappy Roots, The Crystal Method, Vernon Reid (Living Colour), DJ Logic, Kid Koala, Enuff z Nuff, 311, O.A.R., Lucky Boys Confusion, Mesh, The Urge, Digital Underground, Carl Denson's Tiny Universe, JGB, Adair, Devon Allman, Sonny Boy Williamson, and more. Tony Grimes plays drums and sings powerfully soulful vocals. He has played with the local rock bands Random Access and Random X. He also toured extensively with late blues legend Eddie Burkes. Billy Sonoda handles the guitar wizardry in the band. He has also played with Random Access, Eddie Burkes, Big Bang, and Ego a Go Go. His guitar continues to create and define the Soul Funk sound. Ronnie "2X" Cacioppo is the newest member of the group, filling the percussion role. His versatile style fits in well, using tribal and Latin rhythms, giving the music a truly "organic feel." He has played with many Chicago area bands such as: Swing Billy, Red Eye Express, Bruce Williams Blues Orkestra, The Carter Hoyt Project, and Loose Shoes, to name a few. His energy and dynamic percussion chops bring and added level of excitement to the live show.
